We also use GTC in our stores.

But we also have the out-of-stock option ticked.

What this means is that if your stock goes to ZERO the listing will stay active but will be hidden from view by buyers. This means you get to keep all you sales history which if the listing ends you will lose.

If it comes due for relist it will still do so but will remain invisible until you put stock back on the listing then it will be visible again.

Perhaps you have ticked this option.

Good Til Cancelled

All of my stock is tagged "Good Til Cancelled". However - a listed item was sold overnight that I only had one of - and that was sold in February. The EBay phone help desk person told me it was automatically re-listed - even though it had been sold. To me, listing an item that is not in stock is fraud. Taking fees from me for an item that is not in stock is also fraud.

I would have thought that once an item is sold, it would be automatically de-listed. Does anyone have any comments? Am I doing something wrong with my listings?

did you tick something that says good til cancelled?

ive never seen that.

its crazy, once its sold, the item is not listed anymore, unless you choose to relist it?

I chose to tag all my items "Good Til Cancelled" for the obvious reason ... assuming that once an item is sold, it's no longer there. EBay apparently doesn't see it that way. Now, I'm totally confused ...

ah, sounds like its a tool for sellers who list the same stock over and over, maybe change the setting.

@warre-gille wrote:

I would have thought that once an item is sold, it would be automatically de-listed. Does anyone have any comments? Am I doing something wrong with my listings?

This is definitely not supposed to happen, if you don't use the out of stock option, a GTC listing should end when sold out, and unless relisted (either manually, or via a listing tool) it should remain ended - but, this isn't the first time I've heard of this happening, unfortunately. I don't know what may (or may not) contribute to this, as all of my listings are GTC and although I sometimes spot ended items still visible in my store, when I click on them they show as ended and can't be purchased, so I've never had something sell that shouldn't have been listed. I do everything manually - no listing tools or automatic systems (not sure if that matters, but aside from eBay glitches, it's also possible to relist something unintentionally when uploading via something like Turbo Lister).
