First time tried C&S on Monday to post a small parcel (500g satchel), added tracking number to listing (83201479194099) but apparently still can't see any tracking results after 4 days, not sure ebay's tracking link not working or what, I also tried to track the parcel using AP's website but can see nothing other than "accepted from customer", just hoping nothing goes wrong...

How is everyone approaching these new changes? These price rises are going to hurt alot of people especially if you have been offering free postage.

I know there are some items (less than $15 with free postage) where the margins are pretty tight and I have noticed that they haven't gone up in price as yet.

Also what is the cheapest way to send small items?

I'll be getting rid of all my lower-priced parcel items, possibly fazing out the category that requires parcels altogether, depending on how things go the next month or two, and concentrating on my other categories where the majority of items go at large letter rates.

The <500g parcel rate has only gone up an extra .35c, so that rate shouldn't hurt sellers who offer free postage. The new rate includes tracking, which has the benefit (according to the current eBay guide) of giving an automatic 5 star Communication if tracking is uploaded within a business day of cleared payment (and other criteria are met.) So, it's good for a seller that tracking is automatically included now.

About sending small items; if your items width/thickness is less than 20mm and weighs under 500g, you can most likely send it as a large letter. Great for CDs, DVDs and the like. The rates for those haven't changed and should be around $1.20 or $1.80 for stamps.

Don't forget about ebays increased FVF which affects sellers with 'free' postage as they are ultimately paying FVF for the item amount + the postage component incorporated in the price

Believe it or not, many low value items only have VERY low margins so $0.35 + the additional FVF can wipe out any profit altogether.

At the moment, I've stopped listing items which can be posted and sticking with pick up only. Until I can sort out if AusPost is still the best option or whether or not to go to a courier service. Also, until I see an update in the Seller Protection policy, I'm not posting anything. Fortunately for me, I'm only a casual seller but if it's causing me so many worries, I feel for some of the more regular sellers 😞

Well I have closed my store as usual but in preparation for reopening in November I have edited my items in Turbo Lister to increase my free post items by between $1.50 & $2, I already factored in $7.20 so that will more than cover the click & send rise plus the rise in fees minus the old 40c listing fee.

Of course there is no guarantee it won't change again in October but I doubt if it will increase by more than I can absorb in the new pricing.

Most are going to be angry (understandably) but if you have a business to run I guess you suck it up and do the best you can until it just becomes completely unviable.

I don't like it, but luckily I use AP very rarely, in fact the size and weight of most items make it impossible and I have always had to deal with the couriers cost. Now however, they are almost more in line - sell price/freight cost wise so I will keep going for a while longer.

We will all have just got used to it, and they will go up again, seems the only thing not going up around here is profit margin 😞

Depends on the cost of the packaging. I send parcels usually in Bx6 boxes, which are about a dollar or a bit more, so that will be $7.95 minimum once the new system comes in. If an eBay 500g satchel is $7.30 all up including packaging, that's quite a bit cheaper.

And anything over 500g can still go flat rate with C&S, which is not the case (except for satchels) with standard post.

I will stick with C&S - I have documentary evidence of the receiver's address and it is tracked to the door. The PP+ satchels were only tracked to the delivery centre - I haven't seen any indication that this has changed.

"How is everyone dealing with the new Aust Post Pricing?"

Well, this week I put a big carton of items together for the op shop. Now I have 'less' items to worry about packaging and posting 😉

When I get back to ebay selling I will stick with what I am familiar with and what proves to be cheapest and most practical for me and the buyer. This will include using numerous prepaid products. Letter rates (large letters) is also my friend for lower value/replaceable items.

The Aust Post prepaid C5 envelope costs me no more than $1.40 and for that I can send up to 500grams (providing it is no thicker than 20mm). For bulkier items it is prepaid satchels for the time being (normally purchased as 10-packs to reduce costs even more).

Ebay tracking links don't seem to work in particular browser set ups.

Punching that number in on the australia post website shows that it was prepared for post and lodged

Posted to early...

If you are sending the parcel from WA to east cost then it is not unusual that another scan has not shown up, it usually doesn't until it hits the delivery centre destination nearest to the addressee.

Thanks catspjs. Actually my first time using C&S, have always been using normal registered parcel, thought the ebay preferred postage package would make some difference in tracking results but apparently it doesn't
