Hi I sold an item for Pick up only on Wednesday and asked that it be picked up within 4 days, also sent an invoice.

The buyer texted back could I drop it off at Frankston!!!! about 20 ks from me, then no word.

Can I cancel this sale? I have a neighbour who would buy it from me straightaway.

This buyer is a time waster I am sure.

Hi,

Message them back and say you have no way of delivering and the listing was for pick up only.

Ask the buyer if they will agree to a cancellation then send one. (You will then have it in messages if you need to contact ebay)

Choose buyer changed mind so you don't get defect.

If they won't, do an unpaid item case.

The buyer asked if you could drop it off and then no word,well have you replied to the buyer either yes or no about dropping it off?

I think the buyer is now waiting for you to say yes or no.

I would just write back politely and say no, sorry, unable to deliver, when are they able to pick up?

If you get no reply within a few days, I would put in an unpaid item dispute.

I wouldn't mess around with trying to cancel the sale, although that is just me, personally.

I figure they have mucked you around & if they have no intention of carrying through with the sale then let them get a strike.

Just let me say too that even if you did deliver, there is no guarantee this person would be home or willing to pay over the money anyway.

Sellers need to start sueing buyers (and ebay). Then when the courts are overrun by claims the Australian government will do something about it.

There is no need to pay some idiot that much (not to say I'm not an idiot)... If successfull I would assume all costs are payed for by the other party.

I would say there is a limit though. $10 sale $5000 in legal fees doesn't seem right but I am fairly sure that is what happens.

i once tryed to call my lawyer about his invoice , could not get hold of him as i was ringing up the invoice amount thought it was his phone number.

If a buyer won't pay $10 then you have buckleys to no chance they will pay the legal fees either,you can't get blood out of a stone.

But if you could I'm sure ebay would have it written in stone as a policy.

These days lawyers don't charge if they don't win and ebay would be too expensive for a lawyer as you can see at what ebay is getting away with.

Their lawyers would be on big $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ lol

I think you are right....If someone tried to sue me for defermation or whatever they wouldn't get much. High priced lawyer can't spin the facts that much though, people (or business') sue ebay all the time, only in the great USA I guess.

Yep - they do! Read the fine print.

Maybe they don't charge for time but they charge for the paperwork.

You could see a bill for thousands, just for photocopying for starters.

As for dylan - you haven't spent much time in a court.

You're not always awarded costs. It's not automatic if you win

Only if the judge awards it, if they see fit

Oh, and if your lawyer remembers to ask for it!!!

Well of course i wrote no.

I was tempted to say i would deliver it for $50, lol.

Like I said they live over 20 k away from and I made it clear it is Pick Up. So I asked them when they will come and pick it up and not a squeak from them. As Ima said , it's only a $9.50 sale. I was just wondering how long I need to wait before asking them to agree to a cancellation as quite honestly a young neighbour wants it and I'm willing to let them have it for nothing. Jusst want to be rid of this non-event buyer.

Open an unpaid item case after 4 days then the buyer has up to another 4 days to pay and pick up.

Dont ask them to agree to cancelation.

You sold as Pick up only. They asked you to drop off. You said no. They are now required to pick up. If they havent made reasonable arrangements to do so, and picked up the item within 4 days of sale, open an Unpaid Item case. They then have another four days to pick up the item. If they dont, close the case in your favour and relist the item.

Dont mess around by trying to get them to agree to a cancelation - you dont owe them any favours.

Ive had two different people who wanted me to drive TWO HOURS to drop something off to them, one as recently as last week!

Brighton, this buyer is plain rude. They asked if you would drop it off for starters but after the end of the auction. They did not offer delivery fees. Let's face it, your petrol costs there and back could cancel out any $9.50 'profit', especially when you deduct fees. And they know it. That's why they aren't keen to pick up, they are thinking it's too far to go and they can't be bothered.

To put it plainly, this bidder isn't a genuine buyer. Hasn't been from the very start.

Don't get caught up in cancellations, you would be playing into this bidder's hands. They would most likely ignore it and sure, you would eventually get your cancellation but the bidder walks away unscathed.

Nope, after 4 days-and that's about now-you can put in an unpaid item dispute & if they don't make arrangements to pick up-and follow through-you can close it in a few more days and they get a strike.

And you will be free then (in 4 or 5 days time) to give it to your neighbour.
