Click and Send

Hey guys, iv just got a question about click and send. The main reason i started using click and send is because it was initially cheaper than regular parcel post, plus with the benefit of lodging it online and with a tracking number, plus being able to drop them in a post post it made it a hell of a lot easier and affordable.

Now that it's up to 7.15 and regular post is 6.95 and both have tracking - what an absolute joke.

Now having a look in Click and Send, if you select to use your own packaging then it gives you the option of Parcel Post for $6.95, can't i just use this instead and it's still trackable and able to be dropped in a post box?

Just wondering if anyone has noticed this and if there is any downside to doing it this way? As far as i can tell it would make no difference. The labels you print when using the ebay satchel code still say parcel post, so it is essentially exactly the the same thing, i could still probably use the rest of my ebay satchels this way even.

You can chose to use Parcel Post Click and Send and pay slightly less and it offers the same level of protection as the ebay Click and Send satchels, when there is at least one tracking event recorded.

However, you will you need to lodge parcels and pay for the post at post office, as you are unable to process payment on-line.

The regular satchels from the PO while have a tracking number is NOT paypal protected as there is no address recorded that the item was sent too.

To have that protection you have to pay almost $3 extra so C&S is still cheaper when posted over the counter to get the lodgement receipt as proof of postage and PP protection.

I can't understand why you can't pay online and drop your item in post box using own packaging (the same as you would do with c&s satchels)???

Why you have to complete all info including weight and dimensions, print the label and then still have to take the package to Post office who will weight it AGAIN ???

Maybe because AP have reason to believe that sellers might be a bit flexible about the weights and measures?

Maybe because the satchels are easy to pick if they're overweight and can't be overdimension?

Maybe because it's AP carriage service and they have set the rules that way?

For the sake of 35c, less the cost of finding my own packaging, I will stick with satchels and boxes. Cheaper in the long run.

I have a chip on the old block about this too. It took about 10 long mins the other day to lodge a few parcels the other day as our household refuse on principle to pay the extra. That was without standing time in the queue -that was way longer !! I have all the time in the world to stand in queues and clog them up

WHY oh WHY is it more expensive to use click and send the proper way - the way it was before -cheaper and less hassle.

We still use their bags just turn them inside out -still not been able to find any cheaper -anyone??

Think our post office is getting fed up as in the long run its more hassle for them to have to process all the parcels the long way rather than us doing it and paying for them at home. So,yes, because I am as stubborn as fudge - I will still be doing it the new/long way -out of principle -perhaps a few months down the line it will make them re-think the prices if everyone does it too.

If using C&S with own packaging provides the PayPal protection needed, can someone tell me how I can use my own plain satchel for this purpose?

How do I use the satchel (my plain ones) with the dimensions, even though it's rarely perfectly square like a box?

Goodness, does that even make sense?

You can enter arbitrary dimensions for parcels less than 500gm, as I believe AP confirmed that parcels that weight would not be cubed.

Alternatively, once packaged, measure the length, width and height at each of the furthest points... eg if it's curved, measure the highest point of the curve from one side to the other. (Hope that makes sense).

I can't understand why you can't pay online and drop your item in post box using own packaging (the same as you would do with c&s satchels)???

If your click & send parcel is dropped straight in the box then you will only have seller protection if at least one tracking event is recorded, as sometimes this does not happen or happens after the item is delivered the protection level is minimal, you need to post them over the counter so they are logged into the tracking system straight away.

C&S ebay satchels are still much cheaper than ordinary parcel with tracking and signature required which gives the same level of protection.

To use click & send with your own satchels you don't put in the code for the ebay satchels, you just enter the weight and dimensions and proceed from there.

Maybe you have no idea what you're talking about and Maybe AustPost is just an inefficient dinasour only surviving due to its life in a monopoly.

it makes NO SENCE to DIY details, weights, packaging, label only to wait in line for 30 mins at the counter!!!!

those labels you print should be a replacement for the pre-paid satuals. under what logic would anyone click and send when you can just scrible the address on any packaging and go to the counter anyways.

as for price. if your pitem is 500g but dosnt fit in the 500g satual its some $14.50 for a larger 3kg bag. OR you can go to the counter and pay $9.50. click and send is supposed to eliminate that process...

so its some 50% difference in price for shipping the same item.
