They are just eBay auto marketing suggestions like little pop ups.

Ignore them if you think they are not relevant or maybe similar items sold could indicate a more realistic selling price.

Up to you.

(BTW most of your items are very reasonable priced IMO)

Thanks I try to keep my prices reasonable I do it for fun as a hobby. Sometimes I do really well sometimes I lose I think the prices ebay recommend to sell are pretty low by the time all the fees are taken out you wouldn't be left with much.I am happy with what I make.

They started appearing yesterday, mainly suggesting I sell at auction.

Understandable, as eBay get $1.50 listing fees for auctions vs $0.05 for 30 day store listings.

I just wish they would use some of their obviously excess IT resources to fix problems rather than try to con sellers.

this has been happening for some time. Also be careful as they are auto ticking the best offer feature. So when you relist it will have or best offer on the listing. I was caught out a few weeks ago with it.

Yes I've been caught out by that auto-best-offer tick too.

I've always had these suggestions on unsold items, I usually ignore them but some are great. Like suggesting I change my $5 BIN books to $75-start auctions because similar items have sold at that price. Um, no they have not. Unless by similar they mean "another book once sold for $75".

You get so used to wacky programming on this site it barely registers at times.

As others have said, I've been receiving these suggestions for a long time and find it amusing when eBay suggest a lower price on an already low price. But because the item may not have sold the first time, ebay's suggestion could cause some sellers to devalue their items and follow the suggestions (often the suggested price is based on the prices of a lower quality item from China).

the suggestions can however, prompt you to do further research on prices of similar items, but do not devalue the items you are selling/auctioning, even if they are relisted a few times.

I truly don't understand it to be honest. I've tried listing all my prints with lower prices, it seems to make no difference in generating more sales. I think another theory is the psychology of it. By it being worth more as an item, it must be better in the buyers' eyes.

Then they sell for 99c and they lose out big time. They should be encouraging sellers, not trying to force them to lose money so they leave.

I looked at my unsolds tonight before I relisted them and that message has changed. It no longer tells me to change to a fixed price listing and lower my price to attract more buyers. Now it tells me to drop my start price (most $1-2 below my starting bid, some 99c).

I had to laugh at one. It's listed with a starting bid of $9.99. It told me to drop my start bid to 99c and that other similar items have sold for between $70 and $280!!! Maybe I should have upped the start price! There is no way it's worth $70, let alone $280! If anyone has paid that price for this particular item, they are insane.

Just to put it to the test and given I won't be able to use anywhere near the 200 freebies this weekend, I relisted one for the start price eBay recommended ($2 lower than the original start price). I left it half an hour and ended it. When it fell into the unsold area, the message then told me to reduce my start price by $2....even though I listed it at the amount they said.

So, it seems that even if you take their advice and reduce your price, they will still tell you to drop it more. Must confuse the heck out of new sellers!
