Yes, buyers do not read descriptions.

If I had a dollar for every time someone mesaged me about something already plainly listed in my description, I would be wealthy enough not to have to sell on Ebay

You and me both! Ages ago I had listed "<brand> green and yellow coffee mug". Someone messages me to ask me what colour the green and yellow coffee mug was. I thought they were having a lend of me! I replied that it was green and yellow. They thanked me profusely and ended up bidding on it. There were 5 photos and the colour was also in the description. I know a lot don't read the description, but obviously some don't really look at the title or photos!

I've got one a strange one atm. This buyer has already won the item last night. Now she's like, Can you send me a photo of you wearing the ring, I want to see how big it is? I'm thinking, okay well you've already won the item, and the size is described in the listing?? I sent the photo anyway. Then she's asked, are they real diamonds, or Zircon? Ah, yes as the description says they are diamonds, 3 points each. Can see this is going to be yet another non-paying bidder!

We had one last week bought a small size baby Tutu top and in our description it says suits up to 24-months old. She asked to pick up as she was local. No problems. So about half an hour after she left I get another message says it's too small for my baby. I said no problem bring it back and we will swap it over for the large size. So she comes back without the small one saying she stretched it fitting into her daughter. How old is your daughter I asked. About 3 she says. I said no wonder it doesn't fit. She said yeah I read that in your description afterwards. No worries we sold another one of the large size.
So yes they do not read descriptions

If I were you, I would write a reply. Something short and factual eg Yes, exactly as mentioned in the description.

If you had written one of those really long ads that stretch for miles with a million conditions, I would say fair enough a buyer might might miss it, details can get lost in those.

But your ad was only a few lines long and the last sentence was very clear and visible.

Some people will probably say no, don't reply, it makes the FB stand out. But in this case, no worries. So what. If a potential bidder sees that FB as is, they think you sent goods in a damaged box, not the end of the world but a slight minus against your name.

If you reply and they look at the ad, all is good, and it might make the buyer have a second look at the ad too. That wouldn't hurt either.

Yes, this seems to be happening more and more. Whilst it's vital to be clear in descriptions, too much information and some buyers/bidders tune out before absorbing all parts of the description.

i don't know what the answer is. I now try to be as succinct as possible, but sometimes, particularly with used items, a lengthy description is vital.

At least you received a green dot. I would check how this buyer rated your stars; keeping in mind that 1, 2, or 3 stars gives you a defect. If that's the case with "item as described" you may be able to discuss that with eBay.

Also, as springyzone suggested, a professional reply to feedback is acceptable in this case and important for your future buyers.

Buys do not look at quanitiies available either.

In the last 3 weeks I have had no less than 6 enquiries regarding quantity.

Listing A - 10 available

Message - Hi, I need 6 of these cushion covers.

Listing B - 4 available

Message - Hi, Do you have 2 covers available for purchase?

And so on.....

And when I write back to say I have enough fabric to cover the quantity the are looking to purchase, they never buy!

I feel your pain, really I do 🙂 I just got a doozy removed from my feedback - buyer bought 2 playing cards, from the playing cards section and described as playing cards - her feedback, negative, said she was expecting to get 2 pieces of fabric??? I politely emailed her and said maybe she got me confused with another purchase, no she was adamant, and said the in the early days playing cards were made out of fabric! hmmmm

we had that discussion (between smooth and linen finish), but no she is insisting that cards were made of actual fabric - she was expecting pieces of material - nothing would convince her otherwise. Lucky ebay was feeling generous and removed it in a couple of minutes.

I sold a dress. Listed as Size 8, description states size 8, item specifics stated size 8 - Buyer leaves neutral with "not the expected size"!

Agreed. I used to list freight on large items and 99 times out of 100 they would ask me what the freight was! So now I don't bother wasting my time when they will ask anyway!

If that's the case, why do you specify in your "freight" listings to email you for an accurate freight cost? I would take a wild guess and say that's why potential buyers are emailing you for a freight cost......

Have you ever read your listings from the point of view of the buyers?

Where you have listed Freight the buyer is told to read the listing or contact the seller for the freight costs.

My guess is that they are taking the option to contact the seller seeing as how there is nothing in the listing that answers the question.

It is so annoying.

I just got left negative feedback because the buyer thought they were adult sized jeans - even though I put a note that these were GIRLS jeans and bolded GIRLS in the description and the item was listed under children's clothing - girls clothing. Do people even check what they are looking at???

I replied to the negative stated that the item was clearly listed in the description etc so if anyone cares to look at why I got a neg they can see this person is an idiot
