When I mark something as posted, customer doesn't get a message.

Always getting messages from customers asking whether I have posted their item.

Wondering if I am meant to switch a notification message on somewhere in the settings?

where are you marking it sent from? if you mark them as sent from SMP your customers will be sent an order update letting them know it was sent. If you just mark it as sent from my ebay sold folder I think it just marks it as sent and buyer will just see a little envelope icon in their purchase history.

This is how I do it.

Go to SMP> awaiting postage, tick all the boxes then click on drop down button that says change status, change it to posted. Done

Go to my ebay> my account>subscriptions. You get it free with a shop.

I mark as posted from My eBay selling page and have never had a problem with messages not being sent.

Marking an Item as Posted

If you posted an item to a buyer and My eBay is still showing it needs to be posted, you can manually mark the item as posted for your own records. Marking your item as posted does not notify the buyer.

To mark an item you sent as posted:

From the left column of My eBay, click the Sold link under Sell.
In the Sold section, find the item you want to mark as posted.
From the Take action menu, select Mark as Posted. The icon turns yellow, so you can quickly see that the item has been posted.

When I have posted I always write to my customer thank them and give them the tracking No

very simple. to do and do not need to subscribe to anything.

I bought an item from a newish low feedback seller this week and the next day I got the item posted email. After reading your message I decided to send them a message to ask what they did (I explained why I was asking). They replied this morning and said all they did was mark the item as posted.

I also messaged 2 regular buyers that I chat to and they both said they received emails after I marked the item as posted. I don't use eBay labels. I pay over the counter.

I buy a fair bit of stuff and rarely receive 'your item has been posted message' but when I go and look at my purchase history the icon is there that tells me it's been posted.

I buy more than I sell and I've always got the email. Very weird indeed!
