is there a limit to how many ebay id's you can have?

I know that you need to have a new email address for each one but if you had 100 email addresses could you possibly have 100 IDs or does ebay limit it to a certain number per person/family/residence etc?

You can have as many as you like as long as they do not interact with each other.

A lot here have a buying, selling and posting ID's.

If you are using the ids for selling and taking advantage of the 30 free listings a month, then I believe there is a limit to how many accounts the phone number associated with the account can hold - ie you need to verify your phone number for a selling account and I think it is restricted to something like 10 accounts for a single phone number to be verified.

thankyou both. I guess in these times of mobile phones it is not too hard to have access to a few different phone numbers, we are a small family but have access to at least 4 phone numbers

more than 8 and you may have trouble opening extra paypal accounts unless you have a few different bank accounts too

Joe you can answer any thread you like as long a you add useful information.

How is your comment helping the OP after all this time?

Why can't you see the point in having more than one ID.....it has been explained to you many, many, many times?

Probably a bit pointless when the OP isn't even a member of eBay any more, nor are several of the other people who replied. Plus, old threads often contain very outdated information, so while you may think it's a good idea, it's not for any new members who might come and read it thinking it's current. They then find themselves in trouble because of the changes since the thread was started. There have been a LOT of changes in the last 3 years, which I assume you would have seen given the amount of time you have been selling on here.

only opions have been said on here , not 1 good answere i am still waiting why you would need more than 1 id,

to tippy in this thread the last 3 years have not changed in the reason why you shoud have more than 1 id.

personly if everybody only had 1 id cost would be cheaper as there would not be as many freeby ads,

now one of my family members brought something from a buyer and thought it was someone else but as it turned out it was the same person on 2 diferent ids, ,how mant times do buyers who have been blocked come back on a different id, if there was 1 id this would bring that figur down by plenty.

lets say you dont want to do business with me joethenuts fair enough then you do business whith another id and its me. well thats wrong, only my opinion, and dont give me the what about posting id , well surely they could have a posting id that cant be used for anything else, in this day and age.

Joe, it's been explained to you many times over why members decide to use different ID's for buying, posting and selling, there's absolutely no point in me reiterating those reasons for you. If you decide to use just one ID then fair enough, but please don't denegrate others for making the decision to use multiple ones.

You would have been far better to open a new thread on this instead of dredging up a 3 year old one that, as has been said, is not really currently relevant, though I'm not at all sure if members would appreciate you harping on about something that has been somewhat painfully explained to you already.

joe, as much as it pains me to post on this thread, I will give you one good reason for having two IDs (even though I could give you three more).

If a seller sources their product from eBay, having a buying and a selling ID helps them to keep those two activities separate. I buy cameras on another ID that I sell on this ID. If I only used one ID then my buyers would be able to see what i paid for my cameras and would be unlikely to pay more than what I paid. I value add to the cameras I sell so what i paid for them has nothing to do with what I sell them for. However, buyers don't think like that, and are unlikely to pay me $300 for a camera that I bought from the USA for about $70.

So, in short, having a buying and a selling ID (two IDs) makes sense when you are selling what you are buying on eBay.

For your ID, if you were to be buying paint or brushes on your ID for cheaper than you are selling them then that may upset your buyers. I mean, if they buy a can from you for $20 and then look at your feedback and find that you only paid $5.50 for the paint they might not feel like you are not an honest businessman. If they looked at your feedback and found that you bought a bulk amount of brushes cheap and are now selling them with quite a markup they may feel you are taking advantage. These are just hypothetical examples here, but hopefully they make sense to you joe.

do you think that if you say you sell cameras that buyers think you are going to sell the camera for what you paid for it, please .

remember businesses dont go and buy retail and then put a larger margin on it , do you think buyers are silly. businesses pay wholesale price and then sell it retail. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
