Oh my, what have they done to the postage calculator!

The old one was so easy to compare prices at glance, international is now horrid whereas before it was all presented in one table.

https://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/calculate-postage-delivery-times/#/

I agree, it's horrid.

With the old calculator you input your data and got the full readout of options and costs available.

Now you have to expand the relevant fields to get the overall picture.

A cosmetic redesign that just manages to reduce functionality and ease of use.

I wonder if AP are hiring ex-eBay programmers?

I think it's miles better. Once you set the weight on one it sets it for all of them so you can still compare quite easily

I think it's great. I don't have to sort through any non relevant information - just go straight to what I'm looking for (air mail, pack&track, etc.) The exact dimensions of the parcel is irrelevant, I always thought it was a waste of time putting that in... all I need to know is what the limit is. Just me?

And that 'quick select' option when choosing a country speeds things up nicely, oh I like thaaat.

I just checked it out for the first time and found it easy to use, pretty straightforward. I think they did a good job.

Still says from 3 to 10 days for sending parcels to the US using regular air mail. I can't imagine it'll ever be 3 days! A week at the least. Some have taken up to 3 to 4 weeks and wasted a lot of my time dealing with disgruntled buyers.

Good catch. I just did a quick check and, ETA is the same for both USA and New Zealand. 3-10 days. Hah!

Maybe if the USA delivery address is down the street from the international sorting facility

!Off topic!

Yep, my letters seem to be around 8-16 business days for USA. But it's not uncommon for them to arrive after nearly 4 weeks. The number of complaints have been reduced since I placed that information in my item description. But you know, there's always going to be 'that' customer...

For some of us where dimensions and weight are important for calculating postage, the old calculator did just that - and then gave options.

When I first opened up the page (which I have bookmarked), I did a 'what the ....'

The estimated delivery date is secondary in importance to that of working out postage cost, and should come after calculating post, not before.

I don't consider it user friendly at all. But I guess I'll get used to it. And I'm sure that when I get to a stage of knowing it back the front, I'll have to go on another learning curve when they change it again.

IMO: Thumbs down to Aust Post.

I don't know about letter rates. Nothing I send goes that way.

To be honest, I have no idea (as yet) whether Aust Post has changed rates on parcels.

But my main point is that working out postage takes precedence over when something is estimated as going to be delivered.

That was the whole purpose of their 'Calculate Postage' part of the website.

I had no problems putting in weights under 1kg. For 450g you have to put in 0.45. For 820g 0.82. You used to be able to put in .82 but it now requires the zero before the point.
