known letter postage times

Got a little shock today got a small order on Sat 2nd which was posted Monday just got feedback that it arrived. It is pretty local about 70kms but it would of had to have gone into Brisbane and out so 3+ journeys so it seems local mail is still being delived fine atm. That was normal standard post $1

Be good to try to get an idea of when letters are delivered

everything is fast at the moment lots of factories are still closed ,more staff on holidays and schools are closed . in fact the roads are perfect , even with road works trafffic is a breeze.

Our roads are treacherous Joe with all the rain that's pouring down the last week or two.

One of my daughters had to leave for work at 5.30am and it was pouring and she's on her P's.

The stress a parent has to go through I'll tell ya

I know how you feel my P plate daughter will need to leave at 5.20am on Friday for her 2nd day at work, the first day (tomorrow) is a respectable 9am start. Sunshine today but our road is mud.

well that took a turn I did not see coming but you must agree a letter getting delivered basically 1 day after being posted is pretty good especially as sorting offices are more than likely in a mess after Christmas and all these naked people and P platers on the road

So hopefully the new changes want have a big impact on post except of course even smaller profit margins

At the end of the day it's up to the individual mail centres to assign the post for delivery.

What AP wants is for them to sit on non-priority mail for 2 days then deliver (ie apply the brakes).

My personal take is that if a postie has space he'll probably want to fill up the bags so a fair bit of the non-priority will be going out as well.

It's just human nature in a production environment to not let work stack up needlessly.

Does anyone remember how in the early days of computers the intel i386 chips were all made with a maths co-processor?

This co-processor was then deliberately fried in the plant so the unfried chips could be sold at a higher price.

Not a dissimilar practise by AP here as far as I'm concerned.

I had not thought about that the route a letter takes is going to make a difference like parcels that go through CHULLORA, NSW are held for days and lately UNDERWOOD,QLD has been doing the same.

i think they might put the brakes on normal postage so that you would have to use priority,remember they need to pick up some money , only i way to test it send 2 letters the same time 1 normal 1 priority , but not just once so that you can get a more acurate answere.

I had a word with the counter staff at my PO and they report sales of priority labels as dismal.

Looks very much like the posting public is letting AP know quite clearly what they think of this 2 speed tactic.

I don't see the priority labels being used much tbh unless they really mess up the main postal times so priority is the only way to get things delivered

Except I reckon lawyers will use it then charge you an extra $5 on top of the $45 they charge you for the letter anyway 😉

I have only bought a couple of things since the 4th but did notice the estimated time seems longer so I think what has changed is sellers are increasing handling times to compensate for it. I know I did

Just got a very happy feedback from a buyer in Perth (I'm in Brisbane)

Posted on the 5th and arrived today the 8th.

Standard C4 envelope with no priority sticker.
