4 stars on delivery just because ebay timing was a bit too "optimistic"

What a legend! This was a delivery to UK over the holiday period. It was well late.

They're not all naive bumheads after all. eBay on the other hand....

That's all well and good, but the postage star isn't for how long it took to be delivered, it's how long the seller took to post the item. I really wish buyers would read that when rating postage stars.

If an item takes 3 months to arrive and the buyer rates you 1 star because it took so long, and you posted within your handling time, you can have that defect and star removed.

ebay wants them to think it's for how long it takes to arrive, otherwise they would make it very clear with a pop up of some description upon buyer leaving low stars

They make it pretty clear in the feedback section, buyers just refuse to read it. Just going off topic, the feedback that this copy and paste is from was sent with tracking that was uploaded. Note that the question is there........

You have straight above the stars a Q asking if it arrived on time so of course they are going to think they are rating the seller on the time it takes to receive.

as I said they should have a pop up or word it differently. Like how long did seller take to lodge the parcel.

Then you would get the buyers who do not even look at the handling time (guilty)....but I don't defect sellers for ebay's unrealistic delivery estimates.

I must be the buyer from hell Stawks....I don't look at handling times, ignore the estimated delivery times and don't contact sellers unless the items are overdue by my estimated times, which are far more lenient than ebay times.

And I would never answer NO to the time of arrival if the estimated date is a weekend and it arrives early the following week....that would be crazy.

For the most part all my parcels are arriving either earlier than the first estimated date or well within the timeframe of the 2 dates given by ebay.

Well my regular sellers think so, but judging by what I read on the boards I am not because I ignore what sellers say in their listings.

Yeah, but I bet you don't wait a month, then open a INR, without contacting the seller,

absolutely refuse a refund, then say ya want them to re-send the items

(especially when those items are very popular and they are the last 2!!)

That would be better wording providing there is a way to see the sellers handling time.

All I could find on a listing was the info I put there myself as buyer instructions via a "Policy".

eBay say they include handling time in their ETA calculation but don't appear to state it.

They do say this however:

" Estimated delivery dates include seller's handling time, origin postcode, destination postcode and time of acceptance and will depend on postage service selected and receipt of cleared payment. Delivery times may vary, especially during peak periods".

(my italics)

So eBay reserve the right to be wrong and admit that AP may not be as quick as anticipated.

Yet they are more than willing to penalise us if things go awry.

I would have thought a large American multinational would be a lot more ethical lol.

eBay should scrap the postage time DSR entirely now that they've got this stupid shipping metric - any possible value of an opinion on how quickly the seller posted, or anything else related to shipping time, is completely overruled by that question, and/or all associated eventualities from lodgement / delivery events, whether there was tracking or not.

Personally, I wish much more that buyers would stop using the "how accurate was the seller's description" DSR to rate how much they liked an item.
