Case in point:

Buyer with fb of 4, messages and says they will leave fb when fb is left for them.

It was then pointed out that fb was indeed left 2 weeks previously

(and with a fb of 4 how did they miss it?)

They promptly left a big fat neg and said seller was rude and nasty!

Ebay removed it.

Moral: careful whatcha wish for

with the buyers who forget to leave me feedback i send out mental karma in the hope one day they decide to try selling on ebay and they get buyers who forget to leave feedback. i allways leave positive feedback. if theres a problem, i contact the seller and its been sorted out every time so far. ive only left one neutral in my whole ebay buying life, prolly should have been a negative but just couldnt go there. poor packaging caused an item to be damaged in transit from the UK.

Maybe 4 out of 10 leave me feedback, even the one that have extra 'requests' such as 'send it right now (despite tem taking a week to pay) or 'make sure you do this/that/the other (usually common sense things that the feel the need to go to great lenghts to point out

I'll say the same thing I always say when I see threads about buyer feedback not being left.

I don't mind whether I get seller feedback, or not. If I get what I paid for in a timely manner, great, the seller has fulfilled their part of the deal as far as I am concerned. If any issues are dealt with politely...even better.

I buy a lot and am away often enough to have parcels pile up.

That means, by not opening them pronto...I am to a certain degree trusting the seller to be dealing with me fairly.

I may not, leave feedback for everyone, but I do try to leave it for lower feedback sellers to give them that boost of new positives.

but

would the seller rather miss out on the feedback and get that sale? I tend to be a repeat buyer, too.

so if feedback for the seller was made mandatory with some way of enforcing it, then I'd be gone.

I have sold here and to respond to the karma comment above: I liked it when I received a nice positive, but a smooth sale without feedback didn't give me any angst. List, sell, get paid, send. I understand the importance of building a good reputation which is why I do my best to leave it for those starting out here...but I hate getting umpteen reminders for it.

No feedback is preferable to a feedback that may contaiin a defect (particularly if they feel 'forced' to leave feedback).

I also think that some buyers with minor gripes will simply not leave feedback at all and if they were to leave it might include at least one low star rarting. (defect)

As the OP said 'No feedback is good feedback!'

Even more so if the only thing a buyer did "wrong" is not leave FB is what puts them in the 'numpty' corner.

Some do, some dont, admititly i did worry about feedback, but realising that no news is good news, i give every buyer the best posable service i can (bad spelling and all).
I learn from what other sellers provide for me and if it impresses me i use the same idea, lately ive been using "merit awards" taped inside the box i send the item in, got good feedback for that one and a lovely message from my buyer which made me blush.

These hardly ever, i think nowadays buyers to busy to come back and leave feedback, however have noticed on our product line aimed at the older generation, they quite often come back to leave feedback, where as the younger generation does not, only the unhappy ones do it, which makes feedback one sided, lets face it when purchasing of a website you really cant leave feedback, maybe the feedback thing has had its day.
