How do I open a Basic Store

I would like to open a Basic Store, please can someone advance me what to do for this. I have been told that a basic store costs $19.95 per month and you get 80 free listings, I have had enough of paying $1.50 per item for listing. When opening a Basic Store does your account information remain the say or do I have so start from fresh?

The 80 free listings for stores are only for Buy It Now listings and also auction listings in the Collectables categories. If you mainly have auctions in Fashion categories you would still be paying the $1.50 insertion fee.

You can calculate whether you'll be better off with or without a store:

To open a store go to your My eBay and under the Account tab click on Subscriptions.

You need to give your Store a name and your current ID and feedback remain as is.

im trying to work out if its worth having a store.

If you have a listing for 30 days etc.. where will they come up when you search.?

Without a store if an item only has a day left you know that it will sit virtually on the first page when you search for the item.

having a store does that mean my items will always be one of the last pages when searched?

I'm a little confused in regards to this

can anyone help?

good evening all.

I have a basic store - was -prior to may 1st - $49.95.

Since it is $19.95 - and as I understand 80 FREE listings BIN - per month - 1/5/13 - 2/6/13.

Could not find anywhere to ascertain how many I had used or how many I had left.

Did the 'live' chat - under the 'Activity' tab up the top next to 'Messages etc - go to 'Seller Activity' all the way down 'Listing Offers'.

Shows 80 used/ 0 left.

But - also shows:

Free Fixed Price & Auction (Collectables) Listings
List Fixed Price or Auction (Collectables only) for FREE every month. Learn More
Start: 01/05/13 00:00:00 AEST
End: 01/06/13 00:00:00 AEST

Have yet to see about this - but - seemingly - as written above the items have to be listed under 'Collectables'.

Anyone 'wiser'.

Also - keep in mind - most pay using PayPal.

The fees now - even with the free listings - if paid through PayPal - will work out to around 16% - keeping in mind PayPal's take includes the postage - ie - worked out on the whole.

80 used / 0 left means you have used them all. The free auctions are for collectables, anything else can only be BIN for free.

That depends entirely on sellthrough rate, realised prices and postage costs. $1.50 less to list would certainly help that %.

stkech - do your buyers search using 'best' match? I certainly don't and the consensus seems to be that most experienced buyers don't either. What is your sellthrough. If you're constantly having to relist (with or without listing fees), then a shop would probably be advantageous. If you list multiples, they count as one listing, and the sales history allegedly helps with 'best' match.

As stated above.

Auctions in collectables attract free fees. For any other items the free fees only apply to BIN items.

Which will still be the case 1 June. Which is when the month actually starts.

Probably no point asking questions if you're not interested in the answers.

Stores generally work best if you are listing new, or very specialised and hard to come by used items. Even better is you have multiples of the new stuff.

You can have the best of both worlds if you have enough items, open a store for your new items if you can manage to utilise most of the 80 free listings and use another id for selling auction items using the 40 free listings a month.

That way your total listing fees will be twenty bucks for 120 items and you will only have FVFs to pay on top of that.

Helen, if you go to your my ebay page

it shows how many used and how many left in free insertions

for the date period shown

it will go back to 80 or 40 or whatever your allocation is at the end of that period for the next monthly period

check it regularly during the month to see how many used and how many free insertions you still have.
