Shipping guitars interstate

I am thinking of selling a guitar on eBay by an very confused as to how shipping works. I see the majority of sellers seem to state they ship through Australia post but when I went into Australia post they said they have size restrictions of a metre so they don't accept them. What's am I missing? Alternatively am I allowed to negotiate the courier with the buyer after the sale?

You need to know your shipping costs before you advertise in your listing.

You can't sell something and then add on postage costs later if your guess was wrong.

If you try this you will have a very unhappy buyer on your hands.

So you need to find a courier who will ship what you want to send to wherever you want it to go so you can advertise the postage costs up front.

Not quite correct Clarry.

Postage can be set to 'Freight - large and bulky items'. Therefore delivery cost can be worked out once OP knows which State/postcode said guitar is going to.

Should prospective buyers ask how much courier will be, OP could log on to a courier broker (eg Interparcel) and follow the simple instructions to provide a courier quote to X postcode.. @OP if you did go that way, do NOT select TOLL as they do not collect from private individuals, only companies.

I would also suggest OP make it quite clear in his listing that the item has to be sent by courier, as it is over AP's length limit.

Can't help with couriers, sorry.

But if you go for auction, DO NOT under any circumstances start at 99 cents.

Ebay tells you to......but don't!

Start your auction at the price you would be happy to accept, then if it

only gets one bid, you've got the price that you wanted
