Today I discovered my selling rating has just been lowered to below standards (from high) because I cancelled six sales over the last couple of months, due to when packing for posting, discovering issues with the items. I refunded buyers and they where greatful for my honesty.

Now if I had tried to con my customers, ebay would of been happy since they get their money cut.

Meanwhile, paypal are freezing my cash from sales for three weeks before releasing, impeding purchases. All because of my ethical treatment towards my customers.

To contiune selling on ebay and return my selling rating to high, I would now have to be unethical.

Not going to happen.

When discussing with ebay on phone. I stated that a lot of people are going elsewhere ~ facebook and etsy ~ and he said "i Know"

Today, you lost one more.

I suppose the trick is to find the issues BEFORE the sales.

Yes, in a perfect world.

And somethimes the issue occurs after the item is listed.

Or while packing.

Now if I had posted damaged items and the buyer had complained, I would of been out of pocket for the postage too.

Losing money for postage verses ebay punishing me.

I choose selling in facebook groups.

I see what you're saying AND what Dave is.

There can be the odd breakage, oversight. Better to refund upfront. But...that's a lot of refunds?

As mainly a buyer I am still disappointed if I get a refund because the seller has only just noticed an issue. Or broken something packing it.

It can happen...true...but not going to happen less on Facebook etc. if it routinely happens with the items you sell. Maybe look into a different form of storage/packaging too. Good luck.

If you've had to cancel 6 sales over 2 months, you can't be that surprised that your selling rating is no longer high.

Even if your selling rating has been downgraded, it's not that big of a deal is it? Just check all the items you're selling now, list any defetcts (or don't list them if they're not sell-able), and continue selling. I don't really see the big issue here?
