So angry right now

Sorry have to vent.

Had a negative feedback left this morning, checked there feedback for others, 16 negatives left in the past month, all roughly the same feedback.

So contacted ebay as they are obviously a scammer trying to get refunds.

Ebay said as I have no proof that they did receive the item, so I don’t have a leg to stand on.

I posted it in a large letter, so yes technically they are right.

The buyer did not even contact me to ask where my item is, so they did not even give me the opportunity to resolve.

I have now asked the buyer to change feedback and I will gladly give a refund, I am sure I will hear nothing.

Any other suggestions on hww to resolve this ????

I can gladly accept negative feedback for genuine reasons, but maybe ebay can actually start making it that the buyer does have to contact the seller first and genuinely try and resolve the issue before leaving negative feedback, as my last negative did not even contact me, I would have gladly given a refund, tried to contact them to resolve, heard nothing back.

Years ago buyers needed to contact first before less than pos feedback could be left.

But even then the buyer would just send a blank message or a series of fullstops and leave feedback.

I think you have done all you can and if they open a case inform either eBay or PayPal that you think they are scamming as they appear to have done it so many times.

They have already damaged you now by leaving the neg feedback. Which I doubt ebay will remove.

So now I would do nothing more until / if they open a case against you.

Then you will have to refund as you have no tracking. So no choice.

And if you resolve the case straight away before it is escalated, by refunding voluntarily you will not get a defect under the new system.

But doing it this way it forces the buyer to make an official record on their buying account.

So I would sit tight for the moment. The buyer may do nothing more as if they are serial scammers they will not wish to make it official.

we see this so many times here on the selling board.

seller selling items that if they add tracked mail makes the item not worth listing.

but this leaves the seller open for fraudulent claims.

be interesting to know if sellers selling low cost items without tracking have a higher neg count than sellers who use tracking.

Next time you take your standard letter items into the Post Office, try this.

See if they will stamp them, then hand them back to you for a minute or two.

Go to the side counter, take out your mobile phone (that virtually everyone seems to have these days) and take a picture of each of them. Or, if you haven't got a mobile that takes a photo, take your camera with you to the PO.

When the customer (scammer) says the item has not arrived, send photo of letter, showing an item stamped by the PO.

Whilst this may not save you in the event of an INR case, it may cause the scammer to think twice before trying to take it any further.

I don't know if you are allowed to, but if posting a reply to the feedback, put the person's user ID in the feedback so others on these boards can see to block them, as you will be doing all of us a service.

Anyone who has left 16 negs in one month is just about certainly trying it on.

Nope. They won't let you do that. Once it's stamped it's theirs, not yours anymore

I hear your anger! I copped a neg today - reason she gave me, I don't think it was worth the price paid. Now given I had the item listed at a LOWER starting price than the BIN and she chose to BIN how the hell is that my fault. Geeez!!

I would be annoyed too - especially since it's not really even a feedback comment, but more like a message to the seller.

I rarely even look at my feedback profiles these days, so any buyer who thinks that's a way to get my attention is going to either wait a fair while, or be disappointed entirely (or both). JMHO if someone wants to tell a seller something, they need to contact the seller, feedback is for when they want to tell everyone else something. 😕

What I do for all my posting is take a list with me (easy to copy & paste the address labels onto a list - that way you also have proof of mailing address) and my PO staff stamp each address for me & even staple it to the receipt ! It also shows what date you posted.

I have sent photos on several occasions - as much as anything to put the buyers mind at ease that I have actually posted, but also to get them to confirm it was sent to the correct address. This method has worked well - the would be scammers usually disappear without another word & the legit buyers are grateful for the proof (and of course a replacement !)

It also served well to have a couple of low ratings removed back in the day

My post office would freak, we are a small town, our post office is very busy, some times I have up to 50 envelopes. I know I take a risk with "LETTERS" but, most people will contact me if they do not get the item, and I will either resend or refund.

This buyer has not put in a "Item not received" request, and I see this morning 1 neg has disappeared so someone got there’s removed. They probably have proof of delivery.

I rarely even look at my feedback profiles these days, so any buyer who thinks that's a way to get my attention is going to either wait a fair while, or be disappointed entirely (or both).

Digital Sounds like good advice, might have to start doing that.

Have you ever had any issues getting them to stamp it?

I gave up on comuing up with different ways of asking the staff for it. I wonder if I can hijack a bulk lodgement form for registered letters and just put the non registered on to to it too....

I had my first neg feedback buyer this week pull exactly the same thing as OP.
No contact + neg commenst on items not recieved 7 days after payment.

I had zero orders go missing out the first 3-4 months this year, and in the last month I've had to do about 10 refunds/resends.
Australia Post's advice was to not use Australia Post and that the new rules to printing out proof of lodgement had made lots of sellers move on to couriers. I'm a little unsure what those changes are.

I still can't get over the fact they are able to legally sell a service that they don't need to proove works.
This might be a silly question, but has anyone claimed INAD and made a chargeback on the purchase of a stamp they had used on a letter the buyer's buyer claimed unrecieved?

Yes, my Post Office will.

Some may, some may not, you don't know until you ask.

Even if they won't, put the item in the packet, put the stamps and address on, take a photo.

It helps when people accuse you of not posting the item.

Bought from you in the past.

I do the same and my post office will allow it postmarked then photographed.

I won an expensive PayPal case with just providing the photo's as proof of postage not proof of delivery.

(eBay won't award a case with proof of postage only proof of delivery)

Items turned up 3 months after postage, held in customs.

Thankfully buyer also revised neg feedback.

Hello Kopes.

Makes perfect sense to photo your untracked items before posting them, as you have just proved.

My post office has no problem with me taking a photo after they have stamped the item.

Some PO's might object, but one never knows until one asks.

My PO doesn't mind, probably because I spend $1000+ a month with them, so they humour me..

Fair enough, makes good business sense to try and look after your customers, especially if they are dropping a fair wad of cash with you.. The PO realise this, so that is probably why they don't object.

I don't have many INR cases, but do get them now and then, as I send a fair bit of untracked mail, usually cheaper coins for $5 to $25, which the customer would not buy if they had to pay $5-$6 for tracked mail.

Be careful with this bit.... Probably against the rules. apart from which, if they claim item not received they will get a refund regardless of feedback left..If they are a scammer they will know this.

No, never had any issues, but I do always go to the same PO where they have 4 regular staff members and a regular relief person who I've also trained ! They also print labels for me (that did take a little longer), which I think looks more professional and also more official so to speak - it also proves you lodged over the counter even though they are only large letter without Tracking.

I do believe it's the combination of the way I post & can provide evidence that I have very few INR's - in fact I think I have only ever had one INR case opened against me & that was recently - once I explained to the newbie all they needed to do was send a message, they apologised and explained basically, that was the way the eBay system directed them (thanks eBay). Anyway I sent a replacement and she left lovely feedback

For obvious reasons I've blanked out names etc, but this is what I take to the PO to have stamped & also what I send to any buyers who say they have not received their order - I would just hate to think a buyer would even consider I may not have posted their order

I made enquiries at the PO today, so I could respond more accurately, and I was advised, as stawks has already suggested, they are not really supposed to frank the envelope and then let you take it away - however - at my PO, if they are very busy and/or it is a regular customer, they have been known to let customers take the articles to the side counter for photographing. I was also told, they do have a lot of eBay seller customers and for many of them, once the envelopes have been stamped the staff actually spread them out on the counter to be quickly photographed. Unfortunately I don't post large quantities , but if I did, I would think my method might be easier than photographing - and I always try to sit the envelopes on the counter in the same order as the list so it easy for the staff to check.

As was suggested to me today, it's all about customer service and they will do anything they can to assist, I must say they are excellent at my local, so much so, I may be out working or running errands and drive past other PO's, but will go out of my way to go to the local as I appreciate the service - that said it is an LPO and it was suggested the Corporate Offices are generally not as helpful
