Whilst I always post within 1 business day, I've pushed out my handling time to 5 days and now I get lots of compliments ie: arrived before ETA, quick shipping, fast postage etc. I never get postage defects, even for the ones I send overseas.

Some sellers have a longer handling time - 10 days+.

With Australia Post taking up to 8 business days (or more) to deliver, it's worth building in as much "padding" as possible.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that if you uploaded tracking information within your handling time, that buyers didn't received the question "did you receive the items prior to .........". Can someone clarify this. Every couple of weeks, I'm receiving a late shipping defect and when I check, they are all posted within my handling time, Ebay remove them, but it's a pain having to call them.

Do you get a lodgement scan?

if so, ring eBay and get them removed.

If not, that is why. If the item is DELIVERED after the eBay estimate, eBay will 'award' a defect.

After all, they will only have your word the item was posted within your handling time. Exactly the same as an untracked letter.

Whilst this might not apply to you in this instance, it is handy to know.

I'm not sure whether buyers have the option for the 'did the item arrive by...' but I also have posted an item within the handling time and received a late defect by eBay - not by the buyer.

My solution to this, although it may not help your results in Best Match, is to increase your handling time by a day or two, which will therefore increase the expected delivery time by an extra day or two.

It means eBay allows for more time and less defects should occur. Unless you're sending untracked, which is then upto the buyer to decide.

At the moment ebay can only "see" into the Australia Post tracking network. So if its with another carrier then tbhey cannot see that it has been scanned withing your stated handling time.

So maybe you will just have to persist with the phone calls until they correct the auto system.
