Do not send a request to mutually cancel though because if they decline then you are stuck with the fees and they can still leave neg feedback.

Send an invoice with postage at $300 and when they do not pay within 4 days open a dispute for non payment and 4 days later close it to get your fees back and they get a strike and they will not be able to leave feedback either.

just sold an item that clearly states that it is pick up only, E-mailed buyer items are ready for inspection and collection, He has E-mailed back with let him know how much extra for postage. I have told him collection only no postage. Someone asked this question on listing and was told sorry no postage, So where do I go from here.

Thank you in advance for your help

For me it is pretty obviously pick up only but some people will try - next time perhaps spell it out clearly in the description too BUYER MUST ARRANGE PICK UP. ITEM WILL NOT BE SHIPPED. (and include some flashing neon lights too?!)

Not all people will read the questions and answers down the bottom either. I would suggest a mutual cancellation unless the buyer can arrange for someone to pick it up on their behalf?

Or if you feel inclined you could provide a quote for a courier, signed and fully insured.

It might be $100-200.

-Your bidder is only a newbie with 9 feedback.

-Some ebayers are unable to view the questions at the bottom of listing due to mobile aps, so its possible he couldn't see that it was pick up only.

-You did not write PICK UP ONLY within the blurb, and the payments/postage TAB can be a bit difficult for newcomers to fathom how to access it. Easy when you know its there, but necessarily a stand out feature.

Personally, if it was me, I would not offer a $300 freighting charge. The buyer then would have to pay you by Paypal and you never know, might just do a charge back months down the track, or get you for excessive postage or come here and complain, then get advice on how to deal with your outrageous postage claims! LOL 😉

Be nice and gently explain to your buyer that the item is PICK UP ONLY as per the terms of the listing, and that is all you can offer. If you are feeling generous, offer your buyer a mutual cancellation, then you will get your fees back from ebay, and free to relist, and this time put it in big bold letters within the item description PICK UP ONLY. 🙂

If you want to be technical I am seeing the words pick up mentioned three times in the original listing. Surely even mobile apps include the postage information and I am not even talking about the questions and answers lower down on the page?! I would be inclined to take screen shots wherever it says pick up and send that to the buyer via ebay messages when you next make contact.

There is. If you don't want to post it ask them via ebay messages if they will agree to a mutual cancellation. Once they agree then send them the form and if they decline you can contact ebay whom can see they already agreed to a cancellation. If feedback is left it will be removed.

My suggestion was to provide a secure premium method of posting and if they are prepared to pay, all well and good. But as jane says if they are a newbie, it was probably a genuine oversight.

If it were me I would go to the Pack & Send site and get a quote for sending whatever it is by their fully tracked and insured service, add on fifty bucks for the cost of transporting them to the P&S depot and add that to the invoice.

They either pay that much (will be very expensive) and you have made enough to make it worth the time and trouble or they don't pay and you can go through the unpaid item dispute process.

Regardless of whether the buyer is a novice or didn't see the questions and answers because they may or may not be using a mobile device, it actually quite clearly says pick up where it refers to postage. I am not on a mobile device but can see it mentioned twice and then a third time under questions and answers? I would be surprised if mobile devices/apps left pertinent information out completely.

Seller should not have to worry about chasing around and getting quotes, they shouldn't even have to worry about packing the item which is another issue all together.

The seller could always suggest the buyer arrange someone to pack and collect the item at the buyer's own expense. Even suggesting this is going above and beyond, seller specified pick up only for a reason, his item his rules?

Way off base? NO, you are spot on.

While some might come here cussing and cursing about buyers most of us do reply politely and your suggestion for a reply is most definitely polite but firm, just what is needed.

I would never let a buyer arrange the courier delivery, it would still be classed as pick up only so no Paypal protection if the buyer does a bank chargeback.

The majority of businesses accept credit card payments and lets face it its commonsense surely that the frequency of charge backs is very, very small.

In any case if a professional courier company is organised by buyer to collect there are transaction records for the freight including from - to address details.

There are many successful, highly respected ebay businesses particularly in the antiques area, that sell using mostly pick up only, and indicate that they are happy to liaise with a buyers choice of couriers, I would think that this would not be offered if it was such a significant risk.

Whilst some may not choose to accept a courier delivery for a pick up only item - it can be the difference between making a sale or not.- and it should be noted in a listing that courier pick up will not be accepted.

I must have misunderstood I believe the OP did offer pick up only for the item. I don't get the difference between the buyers own courier & the buyer physically picking the item up when "pick up" is the only way to receive the goods.

In the words of the illustrious and infamous Pauline Hanson......." please explain"??:|
