Can I get scammed?

I am selling real Items not boxes if you know what I mean, I am selling a so called "(YouTuber Bundle) 500Gb PS4 (Jet Black) Elagto HD 60 + RIG Headset + 2 PS4 Games" Local only, if a buyer buys it for $500 (any amount) and he picks it up and pays with PayPal, can he put a dispute or refund,ect? Example : He picks up the items pays with Paypal and he wants a refund (item dosent work,ect) Will he get his money? If so he has to return my items right? Like I have to press a button saying he has returned them? If so please tell me thanks.

if you have not been completely honest in your item description you may have some after sales problems. This includes your description being deceptive by omission of information a reasonable member would expect you to include to prospective buyers through the wording of your description.

I note that you are listing "Used" items that do not always work as they should. Check item descriptors here:

I see that "Used" means: An item that has been used previously. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. This item may be a floor model or store return that has been used. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.

If a buyer views your description on their mobile device and buys and later feels that you misrepresented the condition because they think it should have been listed as "For parts or not working" then they may seek a refund.

I think the old adage "Honesty is the best policy" sums up the advice that most posters will offer you here.

My personal opinion....

There is no such thing as "sometimes defective". Something is either not defective (fully functional at all times), or defective full stop (not fully functional at all times).

At this point in time, I honestly question your integrity, considering the nature of your previous listings. As such, I feel reluctant to provide any further information that could be used to create 'refund proof' scam listings. Not that there really is such a thing.

As above, be clear and 100% honest in your dealings, and you'll be more likely to have successful sales.

I agree with digi about not helping you to prepare a listing that would prevent a buyer from being refunded should one be warranted.

However, I feel that I can help you prevent anyone from buying your item through being more honest in your listing.

Start with the condition. If you are going to keep the faulty headset in the listing you need to change the condition to "For parts or not working".

Then, revise the content of your description to remove the RRP's. Surely nobody would think that a faulty item that has an earpiece that doesn't get sound most of the time would have a bundled RRP of $1110 with a Buy-It-Now price of $1100 !!!! ARE GAMERS THAT STUPID that they would believe such BS??????

edit: just checked your listing again. You don't say "one earpiece doesn't get sound most of the time", you say "Defective Sometimes". There is a big difference, and if you can't see that then you are beyond help.

I'm more interested in the PS4 console itself. What version is it? Hard drive capacity? Where are all the cables... Could just be your photos, but it doesn't look like any of the PS4s this household has had (and we've gone through 3 😉 ). Looks more like a box painted matte black.... so clearer photos of that, plus a lot more information about it, would be plus.

my mistake in the edit (it is late and I need sleep). It is the Amplifier that is "Defective Sometimes". Your edit of the listing does state clearly that one earpiece does not work. However, you do still have the RRP's.

Geeze, will this thing even work for the buyer? Headset with earpiece that doesn't work, Amplifier that is Defective Sometimes!!!!!

I like this line from your listing "The listing also has a RIG Headset with a amplifier so you can listen to music with the headset and game,chat audio at the same time!" (my bolding).

Now that is the funniest thing I have read in a listing so far this year, I know we are only a few days into this year, but I do read a lot of listings each day!!!!!

You should change it to: "The listing also has a RIG Headset with an amplifier so you can listen to music through one ear with the headset and game, chat audio at the same time only when the amplifier decides to work!"

Provide clear and factual information about the items.

Provide useful information and images of the items that are included.

Don't lie about what the items are, or what condition they're in.

Don't waste space with what items are "worth", particularly if they're not included for sale.

Simple.

If you are incapable of preparing a proper listing you should not be selling on eBay. I know this sounds harsh, but the 'erg experience' burned a lot of regular posters and I doubt that anyone would make a list that is any more detailed than this effort from this tired old poster:

Step one - end all your listings

Step two - read the site map to learn about selling before listing any more items (there is a link at the bottom of every page)

Step three - do not ask where is the site map is . . . . . that will confirm that you are erg and are just being a pest here

Step four - read the threads on the selling discussion forum . . . . . . all of them. They will contain all the answers you need.

just asking questions on how to improve a listing so I get more buyers! If I wanted to scam people I could have done it by now. I just wanted to know if someone could scam me if I was selling a item like I am atm and get the refund without returning the items, like what I said on the first post.

well, now that you have removed the headset and amplifier from the listing and removed mention of them in the description I am unable to quote what you had written.

However, my memory is pretty good and I recall clearly that your listing had something like "PlayStation 4 (Jet Black) Elgato HD60 + Headset + Amplifier (Defective Sometimes)".

By putting the "Defective Sometimes" after the Amplifier you WERE saying that the Amplifier is defective.

Please indicate in your posts who it is you are replying to, otherwise it just gets too confusing. At the moment it looks like you are replying to yourself in every post. If you are using a mobile phone to view the boards you should start each post like this:

Like I said, your previous listings were severely lacking in integrity - improve that first, and your listings will improve in kind.

and if you go back through the replies you will see that you HAVE received some really useful information. In fact, you must have considered the information to be worth listening to because you have edited your listing to remove the headpiece and amplifier as well as removing the references to RRP's.

Don't get narky with 'everyone' when not 'everyone' has been unhelpful. If you don't like what I have written just say so in a post directed to me and I will stop posting on your threads. I will not be offended if you do this.

I'm late getting to this thread OP, but to be honest you never came back to your previous thread when it was shown that you were attempting to scam buyers with your listings, either by deceptive desciptions or by inflating postal costs.

So far you have had one feedback for your two sales and that's a negative, that listing was both deceptive and had inflated postal costs. You were probably lucky just to end up with a neg rather than being reported to the on-line fraud squad for your actions.

You would have been fully aware that those listings for the various boxes were blatant attempts to scam buyers, and yet you now come here to ask how to prevent yourself getting scammed...................

O.K. so now you have to try and repair the damage done to your selling account and your reputation on a public forum, that is not going to be easy for you, but as they say "one step at a time". The experienced members here can give you guidlines to achieve that but at the end of the day it's you that will have to put in the hard yards to rectify your previous mistakes.

You have had some very instructive answers here to your question about getting scammed and I can see that you've taken some of that advice on board.

In future listings it would pay you to do a search and see what the same item is on sale for (or has been sold previously for) by other sellers and set your prices accordingly, being aware that you are trying to sell in a category that you'll have a lot of competition in.

In reference to your current listing for the controller, a quick search on eBay will get you a pair of those switches for under $2 and a U Tube search will give you instructions on how to replace them, going down that track will give you a better chance of a sale on it. Otherwise list it "for parts only". Also adjust the postage on it, there's no way that it would cost you nearly $30 to post that - there's no way a buyer is going to pay nearly $50 for a broken controller when they can get a brand new one for around the same price.
