Refund?

So I have sold an item on Ebay. I listed it as size 8 as that was the size I was told upon purchase. I am a size 7 and they were a bit too big for my liking. The buyer purchased about 20 something days ago and is asking to send back as they got the wrong size. I listed size 8 on my item and the buyer states that in the description there was an indication of Mens sizing so I cross checked the information. I accepted well below purchase price and am unsure of refund policy and what to do as the purchase was made quite a while ago, and It's been a certain number of days therfore I have withdrawn the money from paypal. What are the policies on refund as I stated information correctly and all?and

They are listed under 'men's shoes - occupational", so if they are women's sizing you need to refund

The buyer sends the boots back to you and when you receive them you refund.

Email the seller and say that you will accept the refund - especially if they are women's boots and they were listed under men's boots. Perhaps you could clarify that point for us?

The boots sold on the 14th January so only 18 days ago.

They were listed under Men's Boots. If they are women's sizing you definitely need to accept the return.

You will need to put the money back into your paypal account to do the refund and you should also pay the return postage as the buyer is not to blame for your mistake.

Redback don't make women's boots, so the listing was absolutely correct.

If the buyer thought they were women's boots then that is their mistake.

So this would be a 'Change of Mind" return, which you have in your listing you don't accept, so you don't have to. Tell the buyer politely that the listing was correct, refer to website, etc

If the buyer opens a return request for Not As Described, I would phone ebay because that is an abuse of the returns system. The boots were described correctly. The buyer can just wear it. XD

If you want to accept the return anyway, that's up to you but you don't have to.

Some tradie bloke or other worker ant, that has no clue about who makes what is expected to know that "redback" only make womens boots - what a very arrogant assumption. Not everyone knows who makes what brands. For goodness sakes get real.

Buyer probably needs new foot clobber for work, punched in some key words, and 3 minutes later made a purchase.

Of course thats all assumption too, but nonetheless the predicament of return has occured totally due to OPs error.

Listing goods in the correct category is essential on eBay.

it is not the buyers mistake, it is the OP sellers mistake for listing the boots in the totally incorrect category.

If they want their boots back, they better issue a return, as under the eBay money back guarantee it is an open and shut case.

OP make sure in the future not only list in the correct category, but include a decent listing description, including materials goods are made from and measurements - both of these tactics will see you have an improved selling career.

Redback and their distributers promote and advertise their boots to both men and women.

The OPs description is as unclear as their OP.

The OP has opened themselves to unhappy buyers by putting "SIZE 8, FITS SIZE 7" in the listing title. More info in the listing description could have covered their butt - but zero helpful, butt covering info there.

I will concede that my comments re category may be incorrect, however nonetheless stand by the majority of my comments.

The only difference between men's and women's Redbacks are, women tend to go for the smaller sizes, e.g. size 5, size 5.5 or size 6....unless they have huge feet. There are no separate men's and women's range, they are all exactly the same. They are promoted to women these days because more women are doing what was once considered to be men's work, like trades, construction, mines.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a tradie or other workr ant who didn't know what Redback boots were. They are one of the more popular brand of work boots.

I know many tradies - male and female that would be clueless to brand popularity save Bludstones and some other iconic brands.

If you look on the website, Redback are pretty specific about the boots being for men. Like Tippy said, if women wear them, I presume they just select a smaller size but they're not marketed on the website with any reference to women's sizing.

Anyways that's all irrelevant really. If it's true that the buyer was trying to make out something about women's boots, they're just trying it on. They're size 8, men's boots, correct category, I don't see any basis for a not as described return. Not having measurements is not a basis for a NAD return. If they don't fit that's the really buyer's problem, the seller never said anything inaccurate about the boots.

The way I see it (on the off-chance anyone is interested in that ), the only thing that's relevant here are whether the boots were correctly described.

If they are size 8 Redback boots, then the answer to that question is 'yes', which = change of mind return. I recognise 'fits 7' makes things slightly more ambiguous, but technically pretty much all size 8 shoes will fit a size 7 foot (in terms of that brands sizing), albeit perhaps with slightly thicker socks...

Not long ago I (and others) made some remarks in another thread regarding seller responsibilities for providing important product information vs buyer responsibilities for researching the product they wanted to buy.... Redback have pretty thorough sizing charts, available to all, so even though I'd personally recommend a seller including that in a listing, it isn't like it was impossible for someone to glean the info themselves, particularly if no brand familiarity is assumed and there weren't any measurements in the listing.

Given the op states in their op they were a bit too big for them and they are a size 7 - why promote them as fitting a size 7 ?

the Op also notes that the buyer refers to the listing as referencing mens sizing ??? making actually sizing further questionable.

That comment was not based on Redback's sizing chart, but (as I tried to indicate by using the word "technically", as in it was a mildly facetious comment), based on the fact that a size 7 foot can generally wear a size 8 shoe (eg I often buy one size up, if the shoes are deeply discounted and my size isn't available).
