I still don't know why they have a hard limit of 50 concession stamps. If someone has a pensioner concession card, they should be eligible for as many concession stamps as they deem fit, not be restricted to a short supply of them like a food ration from the 1940s. 50 stamps may seem like a lot if it was a stereotypical 90 year old granny sending out the odd letter with one stamp on every envelope, but if you're mostly sending large letters with 3 or 5 stamps, they go quick smart.

Pensioners don't receive exactly 50 concession-fare trips on a bus or a train and then the driver/conductor checks a machine and says "Sorry, you used up your last concession fare yesterday, tickets will be $9.99 until the twenty-second of September when you were first issued your year's supply of concession fares."

I think the 50 concession stamps is very generous. I doubt that the average pensioner would even use that many.

Why should the taxpayer have to fund your ebay postage costs? If you are making money from ebay I would suggest you are making a profit on the postage if you are using concession stamps....I doubt that you give your buyers the benefit of your cheaper stamps.

I would have thought the point was to reduce postage for card holders for PERSONAL use, not to run a business.

Given that your competitors would be paying full freight, why do you think you should be entitled to concessional postage rates to run a business?

Seems somewhat immoral to me.

You're not going to like this heihachi, but I'm in complete agreement with Stalks, Dave and lyndal on this one, the intention of the concession stamps is for private mail for pensioners not for business use.

You may bring up the pollies with their snouts in the trough with the benefits they rort on a regular basis, but really are you being any different, albeit you're only using 50 pensioner concession stamps a year.

Sorry, but any rort gets up my nose.

If the staff at the counter didn't insist I keep using them in place of $1 stamps I would be happy to use the normal ones, not using concession stamps would make absolutely no difference to me aside from a $20 note. Maybe they should being in a clause that concession stamps can only be used one at a time on small letters up to 5mm thick, similar to the Christmas ones. The first thing they do is ask for my MyPost card and whether I want a sheet of (5) concession stamps, even though I haven't been eligible for well over six months.

So now it is AP staff at fault.

Guess what? You could just insist on paying the proper postage amount. And how do the AP staff know you have the concessional entitlement, unless you flash your card?

Get over yourself.

Whelp... them stamps give a visual confirmation some of the costs were subsidised, which is obviously offensive, unlike the many more "invisible" subsidies. 😉

I hope you're not getting a discount on the electricity you use to run your computer and conduct your sales, and therefore further allowing the government to subsidise your business, but if you are, you should at least be passing those savings on to your buyers, eh?
