There is a very simple solution to the OPs problem. They just need to make sure they get enough negs, low DSRs and policy violations to mean they lose their PS status 😉

I can't get the free listings on my main selling id so for second hand, auction items I will list up to 30 them on another id.

I am outraged at what ebay has done by making me a power seller with out my consent, I've phoned customer support and let them have it, I'm now considering opening another account or more and alternating between them to avoid the power seller classification, what other company disadvantages their regular uses like this, specifically not being given the option of 30 free listings.

DON'T ACCEPT THIS, phone customer support and voice your dissatisfaction.

I rang them this morning & they told me that since September 22nd they are unable to remove the TRS status.

However, there is no point abusing the customer service staff. They are not to blame for the decisions of management & it is unfair to "let them have it" as you suggest. They don't get paid enough to sit there & be abused all day.

Management on the other hand deserve a kick up the backside but of course they are shielded from it by hiding behide those poor buggers on the front lines.

Anyway, I am not going to be using Ebay that much anymore so I'll just rotate what I do sell around my other ID's & not use my main one again until the TRS drops off.

Let them have it (customer support) is just a figure of speech, I'm always polite but want to get the message across, my gripe is that power sellers in the US and Canada get a 20% discount on their final fee valuation, we don't in Australia, they used the campaign to increase final values fees and offered nothing in return.

And we weren't getting free listings, they just moved the fee into the final fee valuation and then some, it's gone from something around 6% to nearly 8%, but now powersellers are paying a listing fee on top.
Yep, we're making a motza alright. US$3000 over a year and 100 items sold works out to a whole $8.21 per day if we sell one item every 3.65 days. Of course that's not taking out the FVF & Paypal fees which brings us back to roughly $7.28 per day.

Oops nearly forgot, now that we are making so much money & are top rated sellers Ebay are also charging us another $109.00 in listing fees for those 100 sales which now brings us down to $6.98 per day.

Whoopee, we sure are making a lot of money on our Ebay "business", think I'll retire & take a cruise around the Mediterranean this year.

The figures I have quoted may not be exact but they are close enough.

However, it's good to see that some people think that just because we are making a huge $6.98 per day that we are doing extremely well. Wall Street here we come.

are there any sellers out there that have reached a happy medium with their eBay business??

Me me me, im happy 🙂

I worked very hard to become a PS, it was one thing I had wanted to acheive on ebay, I would almost get there but not quite, so listed more and more items, then got there, but never stayed there very long, only ever lasted the 3 months then sales slumped again and kept on losing it.

Ive had PS this time for well it must be over 2 years now, never lost it, ive kept it all this time, and i love it, its a great acheivment, im proud to be a PS 🙂

Dont knock it, just feel good that you have finally got there.

Open another account to sell things for free if thats what you want to do, or you can always sell somewhere else that wont give you PS status, as you just wont sell enough anyway lol
not quite, jilly, it means that people who were NOT making the sales 2 or 3 months ago, with the encouragement to list more, and list above the silly .99c threashold are MAKING SALES, yes, buyers are FINDING THEIR LISTINGS and buying them!! suddenly they are going from casual no-bodies, to TRS and ps.. I.E. making at least 100 sales a year, ok so I guess some want more than $3,000 p.a.... fine, but at least they are on their way.
I never sell anything over about $50 but I still manage around $10,000 pa without too much effort.

so, the new logo may mean zippadeedooda diddly squat to you, but it DOES MEAN other sellers are managing to find those elusive (to you) buyers.

Open another account to sell things for free if thats what you want to do, or you can always sell somewhere else that wont give you PS status, as you just wont sell enough anyway lol[/quote]

I've already got other accounts so I'll just rotate around them so I stay under the 100 transactions pa. on each one.

I already had power seller status imposed upon two of my IDs a couple of years ago but I had it removed, we used to have a choice, you chose to keep yours I chose not to. What I don't like is not having the choice.

P.S. I already sell elsewhere & am doing white well, it's just a matter of finding the right venue to match the items you are selling. I will keep selling a few things here but there are other sites where some items do a lot better than here.

So your comment about "you won't sell enough anyway" is way off base although you are probably thinking of QS, in which case I totally agree with you.

When I was qualified as a PowerSeller nearly 2 years ago after Christmas time I felt I did archive something. I think it was US$3,000 for 3 months to be a bonze PowerSeller not 12 months that time. US$1.00 was about AU$1.20 that time. It wasn't easy.

Now the sense of achievement is lost because it's so easy to be a bonze PowerSeller. And there in no PowerSeller icon visible to buyers. It's taken over by Top-rated seller badge which not all powersellers can get.

I believe that people don't want to be a PowerSeller because PowerSeller can't get 30 free listings. Other than that there is no disadvantage being a PowerSeller since the PowerSeller icon disappeared buyer can't tell if you are PowerSeller or not.

I consider this 30 free listings as eBay free trial for new sellers. They won't get charged for non sales till they get used to selling and sell over 100 items and over $3,000 total per year. When new seller achieve that they get graduated from free trial course.

And if it's really important to list free, anybody can create more than one IDs to sell. There is no limit how many ID one person can has.
