When you're in bulk edit, click on Item Specifics. It'll then ask do you want to edit them in bulk or individually. After you select whichever you want, you need to click on the category in the next line, then you just fill in the relevant details that come up.

Hi, I followed the instructions but still did not have the option I needed. I tried to revise one item but the only option was the "Does not apply" one which I've read I have to change.

Just click inside the box and type the number in,(don't select Does not apply).

I don't have a number, I was going to pick the option which has replaced "does not apply" but it just has either the number or "does not apply".

Most of my items come from the bazaars in Cairo and they don't come with tags etc.

Then you have no choice but to mark them as does not apply,(as you don't have a number for them).

You need to contact eBay during office hours to sort it out as we don't have the "Unbranded/Generic option

that they want to put instead of Does not apply,

As stated in their information as stated below:

For unbranded products sellers should select the value 'Unbranded/Generic' instead of 'Does Not Apply'.

Typical eBay where they have stuffed up again by not including the relevant drop down option

This gives you their direct links without having to go through their rigmarole:

eg: Call us,Call me,Chat with us and Email us.

Just keep in mind that Call us or Call me option are only available

during business hours,(8 am to 9 pm Mon to Fri and 8 am to

5 pm on Sat and Sun).

Hi egyptian-shop,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble (and thanks tazz for alerting me), especially as you're trying to get in ahead of the deadline and make the appropriate changes.

I'm not sure what or why you're not being displayed the options you thought you should be, are you able to private message me a couple of screenshots of the options you are being shown and the listing category and condition etc.

Hopefully, we can get to the bottom of what the issue is and why it's happening.

Thanks for the follow up,

The UPC,(Unique Product Code) box doesn't have the 'Unbranded/Generic' option that's stated in their

announcements,(so sellers can't change to something that's not there).

That box should also have the option of Unbranded/Generic,(but it doesn't).

Don't worry about the Condition bit as it's only there because the drop down box overlaps it.

I have checked a couple of my items, an item listed in Collectables only has Ownership History Available or Ownership History not available.

An item listed in Photo Frames has the Does not apply or put in a number.

An item in Fashion Jewellery only has the Ownership History Available option.

I dont have it either..Obviously haven't actually implemented it yet.

Dumb wording anyway, why claim something as unbranded/generic when it isn't, simply doesn't have a barcode thats all.

I have exactly the same problem.
Luckily only a dozen products...not hundreds or thousands like some poor sellers.

As all my items are 'handmade' by me there aren't any Product Identifiers, UPC or any other type of codes...

As soon as I received the email - I went to 'edit' all my item Product Identifers - with both with TL & edit your item page...both didn't work. Didn't show the options required.
Unbranded/Generic didn't come up on either methods.

Mind you - I do disagree with the wording 'Generic' for handmade items as each item is unique but I when I looked up the specific meaning of the word...

noun - a consumer product having no brand name or registered trademark

I suppose it fits...but still

Don't you just love it when ebay contacts you...'fix this or else' & when you try to do what they ask...you can't get it to work!!

Hi and thanks for sharing the screenshots.

I've spoken with the Product Team to seek clarification and we think the confusion relates to the different product identifier fields

So, for GTIN - you should enter the UPC, EAN or ISBN number. If your product does not have one, you can select Does not apply.

For BRAND, enter the known brand name or if your product is unbranded - select unbranded/generic from the drop down list (depending on the category you may just see unbranded rather than unbranded/generic.

Hopefully, this helps clear the confusion. We'll review the Seller Centre page regarding product Identifiers to ensure it's clear.

You have until 14 August to update existing listings.

There's some information in the FAQs on this page about how to update your listings in bulk via file exchange http://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/product-identifier-landing

I list items in the music category. The problem I have with UPCs (ie bar code numbers) is that individual CDs are pressed in a variety of countrties and similar titles may have different tracklists depending on the pressing yet they share the same UPC. Some buyers/collectors understandably want a specific pressing (ie made in Germany) but these distinctions do not exist in the eBay databse used to provide product information based on the entered UPC. As a result, the product information can be misleading for a buyer and the seller is held responsible for any misinformationabout track lists and country of manufacture. Additionally very early pressings do not have barcodes. Fortunately most of the CDs I list are used and therefore do not require a UPC (I assume this is still the case?)

Don't include eBay's data then.

Every time I find a listing that has the box ticked, I automatically untick it.

I reckon a have a better idea of the book I have sitting in front of me than eBay, or Nielsen. Especially Nielsen. I've seen some howlers from them.
