Thank goodness my last few orders were already sewn up and ready to go as I don't feel like working at the moment.

I have a new PS4 game (Horizon Zero Dawn) that arrived the other day and I've already put in 50 hours.

Almost tempted to put my shop in holiday mode for a few days, lol!

But as a 48 year old responsible mother, I would never do that....:)

Anyway, I need the break - been working 7 days a week for the last 2 years, so I don't feel guilty.

Any other insane game players on the boards??

I'm doing Pharoah at the moment but sensibly limiting it.

Don't forget to get out in the fresh air, it can open your horizons.

Years and years ago, before the internet, one of my flatmates had an 8yo son who used to occasionally visit of a weekend. His mother wouldn't let him have the Nintendo thingy that his dad bought for him, so it stayed at our place. Then I discovered it. Mario Brothers. No idea which edition it was, but it was probably the first one. Within days I was addicted. I would jump in during commercial breaks to get a couple of minutes in. I'd sit up all night and then have to go to work. I was in my 20's, so it was quite pathetic really. I vowed and declared if I had kids they would NEVER own one of these game station things.

Probably lucky I never did have kids because they would have ended up with a game box and I'd probably be sitting in a corner with uncombed hair down to the floor, with clothes full of holes and empty pizza boxes everywhere. I'd probably never have found eBay, let alone become a seller.

Nice to see you letting your hair down. I know you've been working your guts out. You deserve this free time. You go girl!

i was the same when "fallout 4" came out on PS4 - if you haven't played it, its basically an open world game, so the time you can spend playing it is almost endless. recently though, i've been playing battlefield 1 online with my nephew who lives in canada and that is really addictive as well.

usually my eyes tell me when to quit because i start getting crazy headaches!

I hear you tippy - I've been a gamer since 1986, if you can believe it - I used to have an early Mac and a SEGA and would hunt down any games made for them. Not so easy back in the 80's in South Africa.

My faves from the last few years have been "Skyrim" and "The Last of Us"

Im-entertainment: my 15 year son has done all the Fallout games and my husband is just as bad - he's busy working his way through GTA5 at the moment. I used to play Guildwars - a massive online MMO a few years ago and hooked up with some players in the States - we had such a blast.

Thank goodness I'm not playing those anymore - it's hard enough to keep working with such seriously major distractions.

Kopes: if you're refering to the Pharoah building game - I just had a look on Steam, it looks interesting!

i've never enjoyed a game as much as "the last of us" on PS4. can't wait for the 2nd one! :] skyrim was brilliant too!

Oooh, I love games.

I play a lot of League of Legends. It's mostly played by teenage boys (not that there's anything wrong with that!) and there doesn't seem to be a lot of older gamers who play it, but it's good fun if you can get a group of your friends together (the game is based around a team of 5).

I never thought I would like such a game, and upon first glance it doesn't look it, but it's very strategic. If anyone here plays, message me, I'll add you and we can have a game sometime 🙂

I also have a 3DS and play Zelda from time to time. Would like to get a Switch sometime soon.

Im-entertainment - I agree, the Last of Us is also the most enjoyable I'd ever played. (I've played it through 7 times, lol.)

I'm also hanging for the next one and then I WILL be putting my shop in vacay mode for a while.

If you enjoyed Skyrim - you'll enjoy Horizon Zero Dawn - in fact I think it's even better in some respects - the main storyline is heartpounding!

I'm totally addicted to "The Simpsons Tapped Out" I play on my ipad & even get up in the middle of the night to reset my game during events. How sad is that?

Prior to that I was equally addicted to the Diablo & Sid Meyer Civ games on my computer! BTW - I don't actually watch The Simpsons TV show! I just love the game!

Huge gamer!!!
Got gamecube, ps1, ps2, slim and phat, megadrive, wii, psp, snes, n64, dreamcast, switch, ds, dsi, dsi xl, 2ds, games up to the eyeball!!, love em!!
Started gaming on the old atari's, good fun.
I remember loading up sonic on megadrive for the first time, my god the word sega was spoken, blew me away!! Anyone who played it knows what im talking about

I remember when I bought my first Game Boy.

I was already fighting a Tetris addiction at work (back in the days when the MS basic games were actually installed on the system by our IT section). I could play Tetris for hours. Then I bought Link's Awakening for the GB. Loved it.

I have a later GB, and a lot of old games. Haven't played them for years but I probably bought every version of Tetris there was and though I also bought more Link games, LA is my favourite. I might get them out tonight.....and take a trip down memory lane.

If so you are sitting on a goldmine, its so rare.

Guess a lot of people are gunna go hunting for there old systems and hook em up for that hit of nostalgia

Sadly no - I don't have that version. I'll bet all the Tetris games I've got (the GB ones) aren't worth a cent. 🙂

I remember when the first computer was delivered to work. Someone loaded Tetris on it (pre Windows DOS version). It was only in I think 4 or 5 colours. A work colleague who knew how to play it sat at the desk and we all crowded around one lunch time to watch. As we saw the pieces fall and he moved them across the screen an 'L' shaped piece appeared and we all gasped when he deftly moved the piece across at the last minute to slot into place. Suddenly computer games seemed very sophisticated. LOL

Things sure have come along way since that first office computer with the orange dot lettering and having to type in: C:\login

Back when I was still a teen my parents owned a Milk Bar / General Store. We generated extra income & foot traffic by having early computer games on a money share basis with the machine owners. Does anyone remember Zaxxon? The first ever 3D tabletop game? My fave was Galaga - I always had the top score & was addicted to it @ the time! Great graphics & sound for way back then!

I'm so old I even remember the installation of a Ms Pac Man upright game! The local teens were always happy when Pac Man original came back for a few weeks! 20c in the machine & then play as long as you can on the old shop arcade games! 40c for a 2 player game. This was long before home computers or gaming systems.

Out the back of the shop we had a hand reared Rosella who could whistle the Galaga & Pac Man theme sounds! Used to frighten the hell out of the milkman when he woke the bird by turning on the fluoro lights in the wee hours of the morning! It was a shop with a 2 level residence above & behind. Milkie was on trust & had the shop keys - As most did back then.

Early one morning my Dad came downstairs & found the milkie talking to the bird. Milkie was glad to find who his midnight stalker / talker was! The bird spoke very well, including "Who's That?" & "Who's There?" Which he learned from the milkman! His usual strtup was "I'm Blue" - His name.

I loved Galaga. I was an ace at it and held the high score for yonks. The one I played was a stand up one. Pac Man I aced too, on the sit down table type one. I was a bit of a legend at the local "pinny parlour". Someone would beat my high score so I'd spend a fortune in 20c pieces getting it back.

There was another game that came a bit later, I think it was called 1942 or something like that. I was a year and was a plane shoot 'em game. I loved that one too.

Am I the only one that didn't like space invaders?

Hi Tippy; Glad to find another Galaga fan! Pity we can't play each other on that game now! The Galaga we had in our shop was a tabletop.

We could fit 2 tabletops & an upright in the corner near the coolroom. The machines were changed about monthly - or whenever the coin intake started to drop off (they just changed the stickering & inner boards of the table games - something called a "Universal Harness" ? from memory - the top opened up & the inner workings were quickly changed to a whole new game). New games were good moneyspinners. People who played also bought drinks, munchies & cigarettes.

I didn't like Space Invaders & wasn't a big fan of the Pac Man upright duo - though they made good money. I do remember the plane shooter game, but think it was called 1944.

I still prefer the early 3D graphics of Xaxxon. Start screen had to have you flying over buidings & oil dumps, dropping down to deliver bombs etc. When 3D was new getting out of the "flat plane" mentality was hard! That machine made about $200 per day in its first weeks! (All in 2 bob bits) Misspent youth? I also played pinball!

I'd probably suck at those games now 30 odd years later. It used to be my secret ciggie spot. I could sneak a quick puff in there without the olds springing me. They didn't care, I was spending bucketloads of money and buying Fanta and Mello Yello!

Just googled. The plane game was 1942. It was followed by 1943.

I have fond memories of Doom and Quake. Spent hour / days making new levels - Used to get 5 or 6 blokes over for a LAN fest. Play until the wee hours sucking beer and devouring pizza.

Whats really sad is I have a old computer I have a commodore 64 emulater on and all it is used for is playing the good old C64 games. RMS Titanic, Chipwits, Impossible mission, Bomb Jack, California Games and ohhhh so many more.

Being an old fella I dont get off on these new games and console things. Stuck in the past and Lovin it !!
