Error upgrading to Basic store and can't use my current Ebay username?

Hello

I just tried to subscribe to the Ebay Basic store and it auto fills in my username (gamer_emprie) in the form. I click submit and it tells me
"Name cannot be the same as another user's name on eBay. " I assume this because its recognizing my own Ebay account name?

What is the deal with this error? Whats my best course of action to get my existing ebay account name to be the same as my new store?

I've tried (gamer-empire) (gamer_empire) (gamer empire) all get rejected.

Is this store a totally new Ebay account with 0 feedback? or does it gain all the feedback from my existing account?

I'm a little confused here I thought this process would be a simple upgrade process.

How many games are you selling? On a normal account you can list up to 160 items over four months without paying a cent in insertion fees (40 items each month with the ability to automatically relist them 3 times without charge). I can only see 45 on your account right now.

I'm mainly doing this to learn all I can about eBay's systems and gain some experience, before I find a real niche and build a real business. But I'm also about to list 500 DVDs and 150 games, so I do need the greater listings as well.

I have been selling games (mostly old/retro) since 2012 but they haven't been selling that well, I am lucky to get 20 sales a month these days so I haven't bothered trying to upgrade to a store.

I have over 400 PS2 games to get rid of and countless DVDs and even VHS videos, but I don't have much hope trying to sell movies, especially when they are only worth about $1 each second hand, it's got to the point where the postage costs more than the item, even though it's only $2 or $3 to send them! Videos are a pain because they are automatically a 500 gram parcel so there is no cheap way about it. I suppose it also matters what you're selling e.g. if there are a lot of shovelware or sports titles that no-one wants they will always sit there, whereas Mario, Final Fantasy or GTA will usually sell quite fast.

With eBay not letting you upgrade your account to a store, it sounds like a bug, I don't think you need to have a new username just to change to a store account.

I called Ebay, they said you can't have the store name match your Ebay account name. I can see a bunch of Ebay accounts with store names that do match so I figuired I could do the same. Maybe this was from the past under different policies and grandfathered. I see most stores I find now do infact have different names or add a number for their store name so I guess i'll have to do the same.
