GST and Ebay Fees not clear - Confused please help clarify

Hello,

I am confused by the Fees as the Docs are certainly not clear on this matter.

Are they saying there are Ebay fees of 9% PLUS GST of 10% ?

So for clarity, if I have sold an item for $325 with Local pickup, and Insertion was Free, what are the Total fees I will be paying ?

Your listing states that it was $30 postage. You'll pay 10% on that.

Total fees - $35.15+ Paypal fees

If it's for pick up then send an invoice to the buyer with local pickup and no postage so then you only pay 9.9% selling fees

otherwise like stawka said you will pay it on the postage

You pay 10% on the FEE not the item. So 9.9% of $325 = $32.17 -(Your ebay fee

10%gst on $32.17 = $3.20 so you fee would $35.37

The only problem I have with this is the gst on the postage FVF.

We pay gst on postage as we buy it from AP (or a courier co).

We all know the eBay postage FVF is a gouge and now the Feds want to load a bit on top.

The postage FVF does not constitute a service as eBay provides absolutely NO service here.

If you buy a postge label via eBay, they have already paid gst to AP.

Ebay still takes it's 10% on the postage.

But take no gst on the postage - fees or otherwise.

The gst on fvf's is just on the item fvf's - and not on the postage fvf's

There ya go - clear as mud

Noooo Stawks, ebay does add the GST to the FVFs on postage even when it is a separate charge (when the postage is not included in the item cost).

If that really is the case Stawks then why is anyone in their right mind offering Free Postage? Why pay any more fees than necessary?

Check your account.

eBay don't charge GST on the postage, but they DO charge GST on their FVF for the postage component.

Eg - sale price $10 + $8.00 postage. Postage through eBay $7.40 (500g satchel).

Fees (shown against each line item) Item - $1.09, postage 87c. Plus postage of $7.40. 3 line items per sale; only postage has no GST applied.

ALL eBay fees are subject to GST. Since eBay charge fees on postage, GST is charged on those fees.

So what you are saying is that sellers who offer Free postage are NOT paying GST on their postage but sellers who charge the postage separately are paying GST?

I don't think so.

The fees are on the final value fees, NOT to actual postage. It was stated very clearly that ebay was not going to add the GST to actual postage, even ebay postage.
