what do you mean a merchant cc facility, i offer paypal and direct deposit, i do not offer credit cards?? The communication they recieved was the invoice and as the seller i have the right to dictate terms. As buyers they have the right to not buy. they said they couldnt pay till thursday i said that was fine then when i contacted them on the friday and asked them to confirm payment details they got nasty and rude. and i really dont care what you all think of my listings, i was asking if the negative will or can be removed, i wasnt asking nor do i want unsolicited advice on what i should or shouldnt be doing, also the customer is not always right and it is their choice to buy or not. this is a hobby for me not an income.

Hi all, I sold a nintendo ds on sunday and once completed i sent the winning bidder an invoice. i almost immediatley got a response back saying that they couldnt pay within 3 days that was stated on the invoice and to just relist it, i sent return email saying if they still wanted it thursday would be fine for payment, i heard nothing. yesterday (thursday) i requested they advise payment details, the response i got was very rude and agressive, asked what exactly i would like them to confirm!!!, so i wrote back and said well you could confirm if you are going to pay. so their response to this is to swear at me in capital letters no less. this buyer is a zero feedback so just new, i opened a non paying bidder dispute, they then went through checkout to say they would pay. they also left me negative feedback saying i was pushy............what is a person to do.......i also requested their contact info although im not sure i would want to speak with such a rude pig anyway. I guess i will just wait the 4 days and give him a strike. Once the dispute is closed will the negative feedback be removed? or will i have to beg for it to be removed?

Once you close the non payer dispute the neg should go.

If it does not then phone ebay and they should remove it.

But tomorrow call ebay and get them to read the messages and they might remove it straight away.

Seeing it from a buyer's perspective, it seems they might have thought that your words were to confirm they will pay, rather than if they can pay. It actually still seems questionable as to what you wanted them to do. Maybe just be more clear in the future that if they don't/can't pay, that's ok, or just tell them the deadline to which they can pay before you relist. If you don't hear anything back by the deadline date, just relist. Just give them enough time to respond (say, a week after your first message) and be clear with what you expect of them.

Why on earth would you tell them they had to pay within 3 days when you know ebay allow them 8! Why would you send them anything after the auction finished?

Had you not done that they would probably have paid within 4 or 5 days and left you pos feedback once they received the item.

When dealing with buyers customer service should be at the front of your mind at all times, of course as you have a merchant credit facility you must have another business so should be aware of that anyway. I don't let buyers cost me money but I stay professional and polite in all dealings with them and never make unenforceable demands as it just makes you look silly.

If I were them I would probably pay on day 7 and then the neg would stay!

I would tell them that if they can't pay, it's perfectly fine. In addition, I'd give them a deadline before I would relist. Looking at it now, it might seem a little pushy to give a deadline but this would only happen if they hadn't contacted me after the initial message to ask if everything is alright re: payment. I've done this with a buyer and it all worked out.

The problem is . . . . if you do not do a mutual cancellation OR UnPaid Item claim and you relist then the original buyer can pay and expect you to send (even if you relist and sell to someone else).

Imagine this extreme situation . . . . a buyer does not pay . . . . you give them a deadline before which you will relist (say 10 days) . . . . buyer does not pay by the deadline so you relist . . . . . someone else buys and when they receive the item they leave you glowing +ve feedback . . . . then . . . . . ten more days later the original buyer pays by PayPal and asks "when will you send my item?" . . . . you reply with "but my deadline passed and I sold to someone else" . . . . then the original buyer leaves neg feedback stating "seller sold my won item to someone, not a good seller" AND eBay will not remove the negative.

Actually, it is not such an extreme situation . . . . some buyers are just slow to pay when they are not confronted with an assertive seller who follows rules/policy.

As the unsolicited advice you have received was provided by very (generally) experienced members (or at any rate neutral observers), it might not hurt you to heed the advice.

Good thing it's a hobby as the first rule of retail is "The Customer Is Always Right". We all know that is untrue, but it doesn't hurt to use it as a rule of thumb.

Your terms are only relevant where they are in accordance with Australian Law and, as a subset, where they are legal, with the Terms and Conditions of eBay you consented to when you joined.

It might be a good idea to go back and look at your listings and Payment Methods. You do indeed offer Visa/Mastercard as a payment method in addition to paypal and Direct deposit.

i also requested their contact info although im not sure i would want to speak with such a rude pig anyway.

I went to request an eBayers contact info once and when I found out that my info (including phone number) would be emailled to them as well as me receiving their info I thought better of it.

Better to communicate through eBay messages only so that there is a record of communications both ways. Hard to prove to eBay that abuse was made in a phone call . . . . . . . hard to defend it if it was in an eBay message. If they are going to abuse you . . . . better that it happen in an eBay message.
