Final Fees after opening a basic store same as before

Hi,

I've just opened a basic store and I noticed my final fees are the same as when I didnt have a store.

E.g. with no store ---> item sold for $6.99 final fee $0.76

with basic store--> Same item sold for $6.99 final fee $0.76

Am I wrong to expect the final fees to be less after I moved to a basic store? I opened a case with eBay and was told the fees were right.

I may be wrong but I think the new fees don't kick in until your next invoice/billing period after you open the store.

All good answers to your problem.

But surely you did research into all this before opening a store?

You have to weigh up the cost of the store against how much fvf's you save -if anything

before committing to opening a store.

Maybe in your case, it's just not worth it, and is costing you that monthly store fee.

Anything that was already listed when the store was opened will be charged at the FVF rate that applied at the time they were listed, until they are relisted or tick over into a new listing cycle if they're GTC.

New listings will have the new (store) FVFs applied if / when they sell.

I don't know what your sales volume is like and you may have done the math already, but from memory your categories are tier 2, so an 8.8% FVF would apply, compared to 10.9% without a store (these rates are after GST is applied). With only 15 listings, you wouldn't be saving any insertion fees, but if your total turnover is more than $1100 per month, the store fee would be worth it. If it's under, it won't be (the difference in FVF payable on $1100 is around $27 between the two fee percentages, which is roughly how much a basic store costs after GST).

you have to calculate overall whether it is more econoimcal to run a basic store or not. I believe ebay has a calculator function now available so you can enter the average amount of $ worth you sell in a week and the average cost etc to see the savings/expenses.

Basic store gives you up to 600 free fixed price listings compared to 40 fixed listings without a store

After challenging eBay they told me it won't kick in until the listing is renewed. Why couldn't they just tell me this.

Yeah. I pay over $700 worth of fees a month now. Based on my calculations it works out cheaper and plus I need more listings.

You must have other accounts because you're sure as heck not paying $700/mth in fees on this account alone. If this is your only account, you're wasting your money having a store, with only having 40 listings......which you get free with a non store account.

The OP has 15 listings, many of them with variations so when you view listings it shows as 40 different items.

15 listings / 40 products doesn't mean a store won't be worth it, though, or that they weren't raking up $700 worth of fees from sales.

Just one of their listings (item price $56) has sold 33 times in the last month or so, 33 x 56 = $1848.

That makes a basic store worth it for just one of their listings.

Another has sold 100 times.
