Removing http links

Just recieved a warning from ebay that 110 of my listings on one ID only, have http links which is a violation. The other two stores are unaffected, even though I use exactly the same listing techniques on those id's. I dont use a hosting service for my photos. I suspect the problem is the ebay generated " powered by selling manager pro" icon at the bottom of the listing. I didnt put it there, ebay did.

Is it likely that that is the problem ? and if so is there a way to edit it out in bulk or do I have to do each listing individually ?

I have exactly the same issue , The only way I can see to do it is each one at a time.

Its also interesting to note that some of my listing have been removed from my store and search results completely.

Others have not (yet) .

Just another waste of time. Ebay forces change upon us with new programs and we have to fix the glitches ourselves or be punished.

I too have woken this morning to the same email. I have apparently 311 listings that require immediate attention .

322043810496 is just one of them for example, but I am unsure as to what part of my listing is the part breaking the violation so would love for someone to have a look and let me know so I can make changes. I redid all my adds a few months back as the template I was using at the time had something to do with photobucket, but I'm stumped now as to what issue is and why it isn't affecting all my listings, only a certain amount are. Maybe ebay gave up counting & looking LOL. Sorry to jump in on your post OP, but thought best not to start new thread asking basically the same question. Hope thats ok if no I will remove.

We haven't had the email yet but looks like we will get it I'd say.

All of our listings have cross-linking between our two ebay stores embedded into the decsription field.

Been there for years with no problems.

But I just checked and they are all the old http format.

I'm guessing I will need to manually edit all these to https format.

What a pain.

Is there some bulk editing way to do this.

Just need to add a single "s" to the string. But in hundreds of places.

If you go to your listing and use the MOBILE FRIENDLY CHECKER on the right of the description field

it will say the following - and if you tick FIX IT FOR ME and SAVE - it should clean it up for you

No problems, everyones input welcome.

I tried to use the bulk editing tool by identifying the words " powered by selling manager pro " for removal, but it did not seem to work. I suspect that is because the picture is part of the logo. I just hope I dont get the same message on my main store or it could be hundreds of listings affected.

Not in my case, as I have done this as well as the other checks such as active content etc and it comes back saying everything is fine and listing is ready to go....I am thinking mine may be my headings and the FONT used to create them?

Good Morning

I too received this email yesterday so, whilst doing the mobile phone checking I noticed the only thing relating to HTTP was the link to Turbo Lister.

So I went hunting through the discussion boards for hints and hit upon davewil's answer (I think it was him) who said that removing the 'Powered by Turbolister' link and icon (at the bottom of the listing description) would fix it.

As it was a live link, it made sense to me and might explain why turbolister was Pluto'd earlier this year.

It is worth a try

Do you think this "image" (not sure why it would come up as an image if it is text though, is the problem?

You can use this site to check:

http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/ActiveContentEditor.htm

It finds the http links and changes them to https.

I just changed all my image links to https with it. Took about 1/2 hour with file exchange.

same prob, seems there's no bulk way to edit so just have to manually edit each listing and click on ebays help me fix it.

Some times even though your page seems clean and with no icons/gifs/links you may still have a partial website link code in your html. So delete all html links complete from websites.

Gotta make room for the big retailers to place their adds and links on our pages so we must get rid of ours!

Yup,

Ive got nothing better to do with my time than sit down and manualy remove each link manualy in over 300 listings

I can't find the option anywhere in the listing, I remember it being there some time ago when ebay first announced the changes.

My email said 146, I just looked at a couple its all the powered by Ebay junk, so I have to manually fix, rubbish put in there by Ebay. Great customer service Ebay

Are you on the page to revise the listing? It's just above the right side of the description box about halfway down the page.

I've tried this and where there was a red "X" on the links section after you click Fix It then the X turns to a green tick.

But the HTTP does not change to HTTPS.

So maybe these don't need to be changed to HTTPS.

Now that I have found the thing and used it I saw exactly the same thing. My borders, photos etc which are all stored on line on my template builder's site are still there yet it says they are compliant.

I have been dutifully working through my listings for a few weeks, one by one I went from 570-odd listings down to 10.

I noticed the notification on My Selling page was popping up for any listings with non-secure content after they ticked over, so I did them in batches, and a couple of days ago, I loaded up the last 10 and fixed them too.

Except, according to my selling page, they still need fixing, and I got this stupid email warning as well.

I have even gone in and removed absolutely every last little bit of content in the description, submitted the changes so for a little while one of my items was a completely blank page, and ebay still said it required removal of HTTP content.

If they remove / end any of my listings becuase of this sh**te, there's going to be a lot of uncensored cursing coming their way.

It's funny because I have 1000 odd that don't comply, and haven't received a warning. I don't think they will actually end non-compliant listings until March, though (I could be making it up, but I'm sure it said March was the deadline in the latest seller release . . .)

I'm really quite annoyed that eBay hasn't given us an easy way to fix this. I don't know about the rest of you, but 1.5 months out from Christmas, I'd rather be spending my time on new listings, than having to do this. Zzzz.
