eBay wont do nothing about shill bidders as they make more money for them,(such as these ones that keep

raising the price to the $25 or more price that the seller wants as a minimum).

These next three are all connected to the one account and have being reported on a regular basis,(the middle

one is their newest one but none have been removed and the seller has had no sanctions imposed).

So don't waste your time and just bid once at the end of an auction or use a sniping service so that a shill

bidder doesn't get an opportunity to raise the price,(these three actually shill by putting on a bid well before

the items finish so the price automatically goes up).

This one could be another one,(but it's possible that they are trying to get multiple items from the one seller

or just like their items and are determined to win one of them at the price that they are willing to pay):

The high percentage that they have from bidding on auctions from one seller shows how they only/mainly bid

on items from that one seller.

Having bid retractions can be an indicator as well,(it's where they bid high to find the other buyers highest

price,then retract their bid and then put in a bid just below that price)

There are also other ways of checking but they can't be posted on the boards for "legal" reasons.

Really!! So wrong and dishonest. Some bad people selling. Perhaps more than we know and buyers have just had enough. Or perhaps that's why some buyer are so distrustful and communicate so coldly, as if they're expecting to get done over, but buy in the hope they won't. This is really bad. What's wrong with people? I'd much rather give someone a dollar than take it away from them. I dont like deliberate dishonesty, because it shows malice and bad intent, underneath. It's scary really when you can't trust someone. Giorgio is too kind. He gets caught. He would have this morning if Barry hadn't been here to do a bit of research. Ooooooh I get the shivers.

Melina, not so much stats but just the bidding history of bidders.

Select an item with bids then click on the number of bids.

The list of bids will appear and if you select any of the bidder's ID, you will see the same as the above info.

Shill bidding is sometimes obvious when a bidder has 100% on one seller and the items are totally unrelated.

Such as a TV, stamps, shoes, a cabinet etc.

Genuine 100% bidding may be if the seller sells collectables, stamps, coins and the bidder may bid on all.

So as tazz has pointed out when you get the combination of high percentage, unrelated items and a large number of retractions, a good chance it's shilling.

Don't be afraid to get in touch with eBay if you suspect shill bidding - and by get in touch, I mean call them or have them call you. I've done it a few times, and while they can't give specific information, they've more than once confirmed to be that there is suspect bidding on an item, and taken action.

Reporting them through the "report item" link on listings seems to me a completely pointless exercise - have done that for numerous items and never seen any action taken on items reported that way.

You can't get a bidding history of people bidding on your items as you can see their full ID. You can only see the history of those you can't see the ID of, like people you are bidding against on an item.

Yes, one could, but one would probably have no reason to check a bidders history on their own items as they already know how many bids they have made. If it told you what else they had bid on rather than just a category it could be more useful I think.

Melina, you could always read the contents of the site map

edit: just had a thought . . . . maybe melina doesn’t know how to find the site map. There is a link to the site map at the bottom of eBay pages.

the reality is ebay makes money from shill bidders and dont seem to care. It wouldnt be hard for someone to write a script to detect paticular behaviour and to have a team who investigates any account that happens to trigger that scripts criteria, heck i'm sure there are people who would do it for free, ebay also needs compatent people looking over any complaints about shill bidding I made a complaint previously about a shill bidder and the Ebay rep was saying there was nothing wrong with the buyer who had over 2000 bids with just the one seller and who was a buyer with a rating of (1). it took over 30mins to explain to the ebay rep how they were wrong and they finally took it to the safty team or whoever but i'm not sure if anything was done or not we we are kept in the dark.

on a different note I just came across this legit buyer who is servising the same seller i complained about.

clearly this buyer Live, breaths, eats, and doesnt sleep for ebay. like how can ebay miss this legit buyer **bleep**.

177,000 bids in the last 30 days? I wouldn't be having the app logged on, the notifications for item ending would be horrendous. It would cause the device to implode. How can someone possibly have so many bids? They are all single bids on single items too. They'd have to be bidding several times a second, 24 hours a day.

That would nearly have to be some kind of record. If you look at that ended auction, there are 2 bidders with 2 feedback. One has over 1800 bids in the last 30 days, the other has over 2300. Both 100% with that seller.

yeah I am aware that seller has multiple shill bidders _***s has won so many auctions with this seller and still has a rating of 2, that account will take bids all the way up to $11 - $12 then will stop bidding but anything less and they are the winner of the listing. it tok some time to convince the ebay rep that his was a shill bidder, they were trying to tell me this was normal behaviour.... 😕

what puzzles me is why ebay has allowed this seller to keep selling when they clearly have multiple shill bidders.....

and btw almost 200000 and ebay still hasnt red flagged this persons account

They don't care as it's making them money,(they have no ethics).

Over the years they've tried to make it harder to find and report shill bidders so that they can continue to

make money for them,(anything that makes them money will not be removed and it doesn't matter whether

it's morally wrong/unethical or scams other members)
