There's always a chance they've been restricted from buying and from messaging because of the contact details being in the message/s. According to others in the forums, this has happen post-sale as well as pre-sale.

It's more likely they've just changed their mind and don't want it though.

Buyer bought and paid for an item that is pick up only. I contacted them with the location and phone number. No reply so after a week I sent a reminder, still no answer.I thought I would allow another week making two weeks since purchase. My query, what is a reasonable time to allow for no communication before I cancell the sale and refund the payment? Patricia.

It's 100% up to you how much longer you want to wait, I think you have been patient enough

I would send another message along the line of 'If I don't hear back by xxxx I will assume you no longer want the item and will refund your money via Paypal

You may want to consider putting a time frame for picking up item on future listings (if you wish,of course)

Sounds like the don't want the item, unfortunately.

I would be opening an UID and let it close out after 4 days.

In the old days, before I made everything BIN, I would have sent a message to the buyer saying that I was going to open an UID in order to recover my fees and that since I had not heard from them, they should just ignore it.

I did not add that they would be getting an strike on their account and that they would be added to my BBL.

I am not a seller, but I think 2 weeks is definitely enough.

Sometimes people don't read the listing carefully and don't realize a purchase is pick-up only and then ignore emails when they are reminded it was pick-up only, assuming the transaction will be cancelled if they don't reply.

Be very careful how you cancel and refund. DO NOT just refund via Paypal as suggected by enigmabear eBay will regard this as an out of stock cancellation and earn you a Defect.

in MyeBay select Cancel Order and under Select a Reason use "Something was wrong with the Buyers Address' (In your case they didn't give one) and choose that. eBaay will cancel the order and automatically refund, and you will not get a Defect

Not sure why the OP would need to go into detail with the buyer about how they are going to select which option as the reason they are going to cancel which is why I did not write it as a 'suggested message' to the buyer

Patricia.

Pats_treasures, you say that you "contacted them". Was this via message?

You may want to contact the buyer by phone. I know that eBay messages have been ridiculously slow of late, and it's just possible that the buyer has not been receiving your messages.

I believe you should have the buyer's phone number from the order details, yes? If not, use the Find contact information link, give the buyer a call, and explain that you've attempted to contact them over the last 2 weeks to arrange a time for them to pick up the item. I agree that you would be best off giving a deadline as you cannot hold the items indefinitely.

I mean, if I bought a pick-up-only item I would message the seller soon after paying to ask what to do next...
