Yes I have set blocks in place. My point was more that regardless of how many non-paying strikes a buyer has, they are still able to purchase from the 1000's of other sellers who may not have blocks in place, so it won't stop a serial non payer from buying.

When ebay had the 3 strikes and you're out policy, it at least would stop serial non payers.

I've had a bidder who bid then cancelled then bid again and won on multiple items.

Then they refused to pay.

The bid on more items.

I checked their 100% positive feedback to find at least 20 positives complaining this bidder is a non payer.

Now I've put in non paying complaints for all the items they bid on.

How many strikes does a bidder get before they are turfed off here?

This person seems have done this so many times.

Also there seems to be more and more non payers. What is going on?

There is no set amount of non paying transactions before a buyer is suspended.

If previous sellers have opened and closed a dispute and issued a strike....and if you have your blocks in place....then the buyer should not be able to bid or buy from you.

If there's no possibility they just want to pay for multiple items at once for combined shipping, then the best thing to do now is add their ID to your Blocked Buyer List: https://pages.ebay.com/services/buyandsell/biddermanagement.html

That will stop them bidding on your items now (and forever, as long as the ID is on your list - even if they change their name), and you can then go through any UPI cases you need to when available, as they'll get NPB strikes for those and will be prevented from purchasing from other sellers as well.

No, it's not 3 strikes & you're out.

I used to think that was the case too but it seems it is some kind of urban myth.

I've seen some buyers with about 30 comments like that.

It would be better if sellers never gave them any feedback at all, just issued strikes, that way the bidder would find themselves blocked.

Maybe they had already run into a few blocks & were a bit restricted, which is why they returned to bid on your items.

I have seen threads both on eBay.com and here which highlight this issue.

Buyers are much more likely to be given the benefit of the doubt in bad behaviour, whereas the average seller is not. (Of course it's different with sellers who are major stores enticed onto eBay with lucrative offers, such as Myer, David Jones, etc.)

The threads I've seen mention buyers who have - if I remember correctly - 20 or more strikes for non-payment, and they're still able to wander around eBay and put things into their basket and go through the process of bidding or buying without feeling the big eBay boot in the derriére.

Only sellers who have their Buyer Requirements set up to repel these repeat offenders can feel reasonable confidence of these buyer IDs not being able to bid or buy from them. (And even then, I think we're all aware that there are some glitch-ridden occasions when the strike-laden buyers are still able to dart through and "buy".)

Email or call eBay (calling is probably better instead of getting the bots) and let them know that the buyer has at least 20 feedback comments of non paying. I reported one serial non payer via email and the response was "we take non payers very seriously 😂😂😂😂😂, she's still available to buy and not pay at leisure, hence why calling is best!

All the people who are leaving green ticks with comments about non payment (beside breaking ebay rules) are doing is giving this 'person' more positive feedback scores

I assume you mean that you opened and non-payment dispute for each and every item? and then closed it after four days

I am not sure what you mean by

I opened a case and was found against the buyer in all cases

If you open a non-payment dispute and they do not pay, you close it after four days and that's it, there is no finding in their favour if they do not pay

That is the only way this buyer will get strikes, simply cancelling sales just allows them to keep on getting away with making fake bids they clearly have no intention of paying for

Yes sorry that's what I meant.

I opened a non-payment dispute for each item. Closed after 4 days and will get a sale credit. They are supposed to get a strike.

I seem to have a lot of non payers lately. Currently have another 6 waiting for payment after 6 days grrrrr.

That's one of the big problems with eBay, there is no deterrent for non-payers anymore. eBay do not care one iota how many strikes buyers have, they are free to "buy" at their leisure and think it's ok to stuff sellers around by not paying.

The three strikes and you're out is an urban myth.....it has never been in force on ebay although in the past ebay has been a bit more active in removing buyers with a lot of strikes.

3 strikes and you're out, I think you're getting confused with baseball.

If you want to see how 3 strikes and you're not out, or 30 false positives is really not that many, click on my feedback score, then my username. Scroll down to "following" and then click on the highlighted link "members". As we are not allowed to mention usernames here, look for the one starting with S and ending in the number 1. The other one (owned by the same member), there are 2 names starting with A. Look at the username that is longest.

The S ID, open the feedback up to show 200 per page and then scroll. It really is a mockery of the system. I would imagine her feedback would be rather low if all those sellers had not left the false positives. I think the genuine positives could have been from sellers who are set up to leave feedback at the time of purchase. I reckon at least half of those sellers would have opened an UPI dispute and issued a strike. It shows how important it is to have blocks in place.

It does appear both these ID's have either given up or eBay finally stepped in and suspended them from buying. Neither account is NARU, so a suspension may only be temporary.

That looks the same as what I've had for the last several years.

Except, maybe, they've deleted the phone verification option.
