Selling Australia only

I am trying to sell my husbands apple watch and accessories. I have had a couple of people contact me from America and Bali that were suspicious so I would like to sell in Australia only. I have put all other countries on exclusion list and I have put to sell in Australia only but still I got a email request from America this morning to buy it for more than I have listed again. THis is the third time by different person.

How can I stop these people from contacting me.

I’m not sure you can, because even though you’ve isolated all countries but Australia, buyers can still access the Aussie site and see your listings. Most, if they like the item, will still contact you and make an offer, hoping that you’ll sell to them.

If they’re offering good prices, I’d perhaps thoroughly check their history and consider selling to them. Your choice of course. You can protect yourself to a good degree.

SOmeone more experienced may have a better suggestion for you.

If you don't specify shipping to overseas, nobody can buy your item and have it shipped outside Australia. All you need to do is just to ignore those messages.

Or simply reply with - I don't sell Internationally.

These types of items attract scammers.

Set your preferences to 'Exclude buyers in locations I don't post to'. That won't stop them trying to game you, but they won't be able to buy from the listing.

Expect more of the same - you are (or appear to be by your feedback) an inexperienced seller, selling scam-prone items, so the will keep trying. I would also, if you haven't already, select 'Immediate payment required".

By definition, somebody offering you more money than you have asked for is a scammer. No exceptions.

The other common one is that they say will arrange a courier, that you pay for, but they will pay you upfront. The payment will allegedly be held by Paypal until delivery is confirmed. Paypal Australia don't offer an escrow service, so the money is never forthcoming. Be careful also of emails purporting to be from Paypal, saying you have received funds. Always check your account directly, never from a link.

Treat any interest from overseas buyers as suspicious. Apple items are in the high risk category, and if someone offers you more than the item's listed price, then you're definitely, certainly, without question, dealing with a scammer. (It doesn't make sense for a genuine buyer to contact you with a higher offer than the list price. The most logical reason is that a scammer is trying to achieve a quick scam purchase by appealing to a seller's desire for a higher price than they thought they'd get.)
