Buyer ignored pick up instructions

I advertised a large furniture item , gave the measurements & said 2 people were needed to take it.

Buyer said hubby would pick it up after 5pm or she would at 9am.

I replied it needed 2 people.

Hubby arrived alone.Noticed antique items on the porch near the dresser & asked if they were for sale. No.

He asked if there was access through the back fence ..NO

He moved the item off the porch then realised it was too big a job so returned it.

Wife emails saying my garden is in the way for him to move it but noticed I had things in my backyard that she buys for herself.

From that I assumed they are antique dealers. My garden furniture is not for sale.

She then said they wont be able to buy it unless he could take the item through my house. NO WAY

His big eyes seem to take in all items that interested them yet dismissed my instructions of 2 people .

Ive had to increase my security as they had left me feeling vulnerable .

What am I supposed to do about the sale?

Ive not sold anything in years getting more pleasure in buying then dealing with these types of people.

Do an unpaid item case so the buyer gets a strike on their account if they are not prepared to pay and pick up.

And once an unpaid case is closed feedback can't be left by either party.

Then add them to your BBL so they can't do it again.

Good.

The unpaid case might spur the buyer into picking it up on your terms.

If not, you can close the case 4 days to the minute to get your fee back and issue a strike.

I also think the best thing is for the seller to put in an unpaid item claim as that way, they will at least be refunded their fees.

What will happen is the buyer will be sent a warning that a case has been opened claiming the item is unpaid.

All that buyer has to do is contact ebay, either by phone or on the online chat facility, and state that they went to the house & tried to pick up but there was a problem with garden access, too narrow or whatever, and seller could not offer them an alternative.

The ebay rep will then arrange that when the case is closed by the seller, that the strike is immediately removed from the buyer's account.

I can pretty much guarantee that that is what will happen if the buyer bothers to contact ebay as it is what I did (as a buyer) when I had a problem with a pick up item not as described. In my case, I was telling the truth but in actual fact, ebay reps have no way to really tell if what you are saying is accurate or not. Or if what the seller is saying is accurate or not.

A buyer could claim not as described as the reason for not collecting and they won't wear a strike.

The main thing though is that the seller will still get their fees refunded and be free to relist.

I didnt know one could end the sale. I've not sold anything in years so am ignorant to the system.

Access is simple as long as one reads the instruction & have 2 people to move it.

Two women in their mid 60's moved this unit from the road to its present location . We used karate belts to lift it .

The buyer came alone with no straps, no trolley or anything.

He said he didnt realise it was so big, yet the measurements i gave were accurate.

The last email from the buyer is now requesting it be put on the front porch , yet they know i dont have a " front porch" . I guess they still insist it come through the house.

I was given the instructions re dispute to contact ebay between August 2 & 30 yet when I attempted this, the dispute is not to be seen on my selling page.

eBay's "Have us call you" option is by far the best way to get in touch with eBay. (Emails are useless, for a number of reasons, but primarily because the responses, when they are finally sent, are bot-generated.)

eBay say: We'll call you at the phone number registered to your account, or you can enter a different number.

We’re available from 8am to 10pm AET, 7 days a week.

I've closed the case at last.

Many thanks to all who replied . I appreciate everyone of you.

This has been a horrible experience yet two good things came from it.

1. Having you folk there was wonderful support network.

2. I now have great security on my house & property plus neighbours to keep a watch for me.
