to all sellers, to sellers who dont have direct deposit here,s some facts you might want to think about,if a buyer isn,t going to pay for item they are not going to pay wether it be paypal or direct deposit but if they are going to pay you paypal costs you more fees and takes 5plus days to get money into your bank account but if they pay by direct deposit money is generally in your bank account in 24 to 48 hours no extra fees and very little wait time if you look at my feedback 99% of my payments by depost you will notice these sellers generally praise my prompt payment.so i have had my say the smart sellers will read this and take action to the ones who dont dont bitch about fees as its your own fault

I seriously doubt any seller who has made the decision to offer PayPal and not bank deposit is going to "b***h" about fees, why would they - they have a means to possibly avoid them with bank deposit, yet consciously choose not to offer it, as is their right.

Quite frankly, I have been frequently tempted to stop offering bank deposit myself. People have tried to short-change payments on more than one occasion, not just a few cents, I mean several dollars (can't do that with PayPal), and I hate the "I've paid, but it bounced, I paid again....no I didn't and I'm not actually going to" merry-go-round (can't do that with PayPal, either). If I were a high volume seller, I probably would stop offering it, as the time and frustration it would save would be worth a couple of lost sales.

I personally can't imagine any seller not preferring bank deposit, no buyer protection, and 'good luck to the buyer' who has a problem if an item isn't received. You need to stop complaining here about every little thing you can think of, and read up on a few of the eBay guides. IMO only an iodit would pay bank deposit to a seller.

Transferring money from PP to Bank ONLY takes 2 days and that is the same amount of time it can take for a bank dep to show as well.

Why as a buyer is it any of your concern that the seller has to pay fees when getting PP payments?

It does NOT make any difference to the buyers BUT it is instant when PP payments are done (excluding echeques) and this will get your item in the post quicker with most sellers.

I hope for your sake you NEVER have to try and get a bank payment back from a seller when the item never arrives or is not as described.

Good luck!!!

I prefer PayPal, for some of the reasons I stated and more. Buyer protection is irrelevant (to me) as none of my customers will ever need it.

Plus, I have some repeat customers that I do custom orders for and they pay by PayPal too, but they send the funds as gifts (their choice, I sent a proper invoice) so I don't have to pay any fees. Saves everyone a bunch of time, and they know their purchase is still as safe as it would be with full PP buyer protection.

I'm lazy so I love PayPal because it does everything for me.. With Bank Deposit I have to go to the Commbank website, log on, manually enter the payment amount and bank details (which I will most likely make a mistake with) Then message the seller the receipt number to let them know when I paid..

With PayPal, it's just click, enter password, click, click done..

Also, you can buy stuff wuithout actually having any money in your bank account ]:)

Hey dg, sorry, my reply was a little loaded.

It's all good - I think we posted with similar intention, just different perspective; that is, I was more trying to make the point to the OP that there are sellers who, for various reasons, prefer the ease of PayPal (and not all of them will have the inclination to offer a service that make life a little more difficult for them for what is now a minority of buyers). Bank deposit does frustrate me at times, but in saying that it's only when the facility is abused with short-changing payments or used a bit like "the cheque's in the mail" excuse.

PayPal is much faster to pay because you dont need to log in to your bank account online - I cant copy/paste so i have to add transfer details in manually which can be prone to mistakes (happened a few times) and it takes time, whereas a click of a button with paypal and you are pretty much done

Plus most of my business goods I can pay for by PayPal, so if i accept it, the money is there to buy off my wholesalers without touching my bank account 🙂

Sure PayPal has fees, but banks charge me for accepting credit charge on my website so to me they both have fees but payPal wins because it is more convenient for me

As a buyer I prefer PP because I can pay half asleep, and the worst that can ever happen is it will not go through. If I mess up DD the money can end up in wrong account and to get it back is not easy.

As seller, I also prefer PP; it shows whether the buyer paid or not, even if they pay by echeque, I do know they did (waiting does not worry me). But if buyer says that they paid into my account I have only their word for it and no way to know if it is true until the money appears in my account, which means I have to be logging into my bank account to check.

Not to mention that PP makes my accounting so much easier.
