Do you think Ebay will ever restore the feedback system to how it use to be 'FAIR'. ?

Sellers not be allowed to leave a negative feedback for a buyer is as every seller know's completely unfair.

Both buyers and sellers should have the same rights, to leave feedback on their transaction. If a seller has had a bad experience with a non- paying buyer or one of 1000 others reason's why can't this be reflected on the buyers feedback?

If I could see that a buyer has many neg's I would block them from my store.

Shouldn't a seller have that option?

The system wasn't really fair as dodgy sellers would bomb buyers feedback in retaliation if the buyer left them a negative for shoddy service.

I do think we should be able to leave a neutral however, sometimes we have less than happy experiences with buyers and should be able to have some redress in those instances.

Neutrals wouldn't shabby their feedback and if the sellers complaint was genuine other sellers would have some warning if they tried to rip off the next one.

The only thing that is good is for non payers and issuing them strikes, BUT if a seller has to go through an unpaid item dispute then the seller should be able to leave a neg feedback to warn others that do look at buyers feedback and still issue the strike as well.

As we know some here will tell you they have no time to look through a buyers feedback and what good does it do with buy nows.

Well IMO if if the strike was issued and if the blocks are in place as well then why can negs for non payers be done.

I agree that sellers should be given the option for those that look at a buyers feedback to be able to block them if they want too.

I do agree that a seller should not be able to neg a buyer because the buyer paid but was a pain. Every seller has a different opinion to what is a painful buyer.

It's been like that for some time now. But we as sellers now have other means.

Opening and closing non paying cases means you get your fee back and buyers get a strike.

As many members block bidders that have strikes it disables those buyers from bidding.

This has a more direct effect than leaving feedback.

Remember to set your blocks on your account.

Go to account tab, then site preferences and then buyer requirements.

If everyone sets their blocks, buyers with strikes can't bid or buy anything on ebay.

Why do you need to see their feedback? How many sellers have time to check the fb of all bidders on their items?

Sellers now have the ability to block bidders & buyers who have strikes, so it is very important to follow through with disputes against non paying bidders which will then contribute to their tally and help prevent them from being able to even bid in the first place on items from sellers with these blocks in place.

This is much more effective in stopping NPBs than negative feedback ever was.

Yes,there does seem to be an imbalance in favour of some buyers and I think that in some cases sellers should be able to leave a neutral to at least identify there has been a problem with their "buyer" which is so often the case.Tardy payment,no response to invoices,non-payment etc.

If the seller's feedback is sensible and honest there should not be any problems. The unpaid item reports apparently don't always work as the buyers feedback can be removed on appeal within a short time.So should a seller have the same latitude perhaps.

Just looking at the forums in recent months it seems that the "no negative feedback" policy has become a very critical issue with sellers and that there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the eBay policy should be reviewed.

What has to be remembered though is that buyers should not become a protected species and neither should sellers which was the case several years ago.

Perhaps Admin should have a look at the situation.I doubt it.

I agree that there should be someway as a Seller you should be able to leave some neutral feedback on a Buyer.

The Buyers that leave negative feedback know how it affects your business, and they use it.

Since we listed that we accept Returns (under advice from Ebay) we have had quite a few that have stated, that if we do not do something - either refund or replace they will leave a negative feedback, but cannot supply photographic evidence that there is a problem. We have since returned our listings to Not Accepting Returns.

Then these buyers drop out of the system and they are no longer ebay customers, but hey they can then start up another buyer name and do it all again.

I also think there should be more security on Buyers, we have sales that come through that the buyer only has their first name, no surname, surburbs are missing. There should also be a contact phone number so if you need to contact them you can.

kokomobua, I've seen that mentioned before by others and I used to agree at first. Then when I thought about it I decided I would rather buy from sellers who had built up feedback at least for buying if not for selling, than members with no feedback at all. So ultimately I can see a reason for buyer feedback if used properly.

In the case of bad buyers it would help if more sellers went through the dispute process, and also stopped leave positive fb for them which many still do, increasing the positive score 😞

Can't force a buyer to leave a positive (or even accurate) feedback and unless it's blatantly malicious, you have to wear it.

I would like to see feedback in a buyers profile. If not for anything else, to catch and report repeat offenders. After I get a message from buyer to say that they didn't receive their item, perhaps.

No longer do decent sellers have to compete against the dreadful ones who used the fact some buyers, actually cared if they got negs or not leave retaliatory feedback as a means of achieving a mutual withdrawal.

No longer do I have to open my items up to any buyer who has failed to pay for more than one item in the last 12 months.

No longer do I have to stop myself from making some 'clever' comment on a carp buyer's account.

In the bad old days I took more notice of how many negs a seller left and how many mutual withdrawals they had when choosing who to buy from.

So, How do you avoid those sellers now PJ??

Why are you more than happy that you cannot ????

You are correct that the ability for sellers to leave negatives sometimes highlighted sellers that had less than desirable customer service habits..... By your own admission the feedback situation as it stands ATM has negatively impacted your buying procedure/experience.....?? ie.. you can no longer exclude/identify perceived standover merchants

....however carry on regardless!!

For me, if I was a buyer, it would be negative feedback received and responses thereto, false positives for buyers, all the usual things that show a seller either hasn't read eBay's rules or always think they are right, regardless.

so you are looking for the same indicators

.... it's just that they are much more hidden

.....how is that of benefit to buyers it appears a negative to me???

previously the negative slanging match would have shown up like the dogs nads

ie

.... previously the negative responding/extorting seller were their own worst enemy. ...

however ebay in their wisdom while protecting buyers collectively have made it harder for buyers to personally decide who to deal with.
