I’ve never seen this, ever, on any listing of ours.

don't get excited.....probably a glitch (but you never know).....I've had in the long distant past, nearly 2000 views with 7 watchers (yes, on 1 item).....it didn't sell 😞

I,ve listed a few classic cars & motorcycles for auction over the years. Its not uncommon to get over 1000 looks and over 100 watchers on these. .......It also drags the Nigerian scammers out of the closet, just for good measure.

Even if they get a bid ( or three ) it doesnt mean they are sold till they are paid for and the buyer has collected them. Pays not to hold your breath too long when selling old cars and bikes on ebay, although eventually the right buyer usually comes along if you can put up with the tire kickers.

I probably didn’t explain myself well. The 11 watchers are not just showing on my selling page, but also at view on the listing itself.

I thought eBay had canned this? But must be a glitch - only on one listed item.

It's just on the page view for the views on mine,(not watchers).

The one they canned was the counter that used to be under the description box.

I think you mean viewers not watchers.

Views are a count of people having a look at your listing which means very little.

In fact if it was a sudden boost it could be due to your previous thread here where members select view listings to have a look at one of your listings usually the first one appearing of all your listings.

Watchers are members saving one of your items to their watch lists, a little better than views but still doesn't equate to sales.

I have had this many times, plenty of watchers. I have 7 on one listing at the moment. I have had 11 or more many times. They still don't neccessarily buy.

I am sure she is referring to out how some listings show the amount of watchers on the search result page in red or in the listing above the postage options. You also see sold and a % off as well or occasionaly limited quantity on the listing page.

I should have posted a link. I’ve just taken it down to convert to a private listing.

Kopes, it was showing ‘11 watchers’ in orange, on the actual listing page, up near the price. Honest, I wasn’t seeing things. It was well before wine o’clock .... lol. But as I said before, obviously a glitch.

But, I think it’s a good feature, if only it hadn’t been abused by some who walk among us.

Might not be a glitch rather an experiment by ebay,irrelevant to this thread but I'm now stuck with the wording Time left on everything instead of the actual time showing and I really hate it,I'm now paranoid that ebay are just trying to mess with my mind and hope that I leave once and for all lol.

Unfortunately you have seen it as a negative instead of a positive as it allows buyers to see there is interest in the item and there are a number of people watching. As a buyer you do not really know if many people are interested in an item so you may just stick it in your watch list not knowing you are not the only one and at anytime others may pull the trigger and purchase and for one off items you end up missing out.

Of course not every item has watchers and get constant sales but I find this is more for needs instead of wants.

I have had many listings with a number of watchers but only 2-3 left in stock and you will find after one sells the rest will go over the next few days followed by a message if you have any left. Showing the number of watchers would have created a sense of urgency just like a crowd at myers going through the clearance rack.

This is my take on the feature but I may be wrong.

I remember when it was active and I was of the opinion it caused good results. But, as always there are those who would rort the system, and instead of eBay appropriately dealing with just the rorters, we all paid the price. Isnt it mostly always the way?
