I have recently sold my first batch of items. Hence I'm a novice user with only a limited (but growing) perspective of the processes and possible pitfalls.

All transactions have proceeded will enough and positive feedback is flowing in.

However, a longterm eBay user with his own shop purchased a rather rare & mint condition packaged toy toy from me.

The same toy appears on his store for approximately 4 times the value he paid on his winning bid !

Unlike the other buyers of similar items sent at the same time, he is 'disatisfied' because when the toy reached him and "opened and resealed with adhesive tape " - not mint anymore.

Having posted this in mint condition (with bubblewrap and supporting cardboard to ensure it reacheded him in good condition) I am dealing with his dissatisfaction by checking the carrier (Australia Post).

I have made a number of checks and returned responses based on my available time.

However, the adversarial tone of the mails and fault free other/same time transctions raises some queries in my mind.

If in fact it was custom inspected there is perhaps an explaination that we can both undertand and deal with.

Has anyone encountered similar and how to proceed ? I'm a tad suspicious.

Can a specific bidder be excluded from future purchases on things I offer ?

Any advice or helpful coments would be appreciate.

Customs may open a package but I'd think they're unlikely to open the contents without good reason. The only time they've ever opened contents with one of my packages was when a friend sent me some sealed coffee sachets. They opened the bag but not the sachets.

Has the buyer provided any evidence, like photos?

You can add a buyer's ID to a list to prevent them from buying again. I'm on a mobile right now so can't provide a link, but someone should be able to advise further soon.

I had this happen on many occasions, the buyers just want something for free lol,ask for proof before you decide what to do about it ie give a refund upon return of the item.

The only problem is that once you have had a transaction with a buyer it will take 60 days for them not to be able to contact you.

You can put them on your block list to prevent them from buying from you in the future.

I'll bet that the buyer has actually taken the toy out of the package and then replaced it with their poor condition toy and then taped it up and now want a refund?

I learn't my lesson when that used to happen to me so now I mark all my items with an invisible marker.

Thanks, my suspicion is that considering the price differential of a mint and a used/non mint and that all start life in standard packaging, the buyer is perhaps (repeat only perhaps) trying to pass of some of his non-mint inventory as the one I sent to him. And he's a volum player with his shop.

Short of the OTT option of opeing the return package with gloves in a forensic lab & having the item dusted for my sons & my own prints - I may never know.

I'm waiting for the proof of damage photos to be sent back to me.

Will be interesting event. One of lifes little lessons
