Violation - Used word Velcro in Listing

Can someone please assist me. I have had a listing removed because I used the word velcro within my description and title.

The rights owner or an agent authorised to act on behalf of the rights owner, Velcro Industries BVBA, notified eBay that this listing violates intellectual property rights. When eBay receives a report of this type of violation, we remove the listing to comply with the law.

Ebay has removed it and is giving me a credit. But how do I find the removed listing so that I can adjust it and relist it?

Do you have the email for when the listing went live. Although I have a feeling it will just show up as ended.

I read sometime ago they will be cracking down on the use of the word before it becomes a common use word instead of a brand name. Just use hook and loop to describe the item.

If it's not in your unsold list then it's probably disappeared completely.

It's already too late for that, everyone knows what velcro is, but I bet there are lots of people who don't know what hook and loop is. Someone would have to stand up to them and take them to court to get the patent overturned though.

I expect the listing was completely removed so that it doesn't show up in ended listings for the public to see.

I think hook and loop is a silly description of it myself. If anything, it should be loop and loop or sticky loops. Hook and loop is what you have on the end of a bra strap, which is completely different!

Grass seed catching fasteners would be another alternative.

There's no hook on them at all. One side has loops and the other is just fuzzy stuff that 'catches' the loops. I checked the shoes I'm wearing just after my previous post. I hate the stuff but it serves its purpose. The only shoes I can wear have it, unfortunately.

Why doesn't Velcro make a fortune by licensing the use of the word to people who make similar products? How is anyone supposed to know whether it's Velcro or an imitation, or does Velcro only sell it for use in home sewing?

According to wiki Velcro is from velour (French for velvet) and crochet (French for hook), so someone could do a knock-off of that and take different parts of the French, or English words, then hope that takes over as the generic term...

Velchet? Kinda similar the sound of pulling velcro apart..

Hookour? Bit risky...

You could get a bit more simple and literal - it's a strip of sticky rippy stuff, so... Sticki-Rip™ for short

Velcro are desperately trying to avoid it becoming a generic term. Like Xerox became when people used photocopiers. Or Claytons. Or Hoover. Or Scotch tape. Or Ugg boots (which was generic before some US Corporation tried to copyright an Australian invention).

It's so generic already that I think Velcro have lost the batlte... but that won't stop Velcro from attempting a stable-door closure approach.

Alternative name - touch fasteners is better (in my view, anyway!) than hook-and-loop.

I very much like the Sticki-Rip idea.

self-fastening is easy to use
