Buyers going elsewhere !!

Just thought I would share a little test I did with regard to eBay and another platform.

Had an item on Ebay with 80 hits 15 watches had been on for 3 weeks - put the item on sale 20% off - nothing. Thought I would do a little test so placed the item on another platform F B M P - Can you believe it within 20 hours three enquiries and sold within 23 hours of placing the item on the site. The best part was the item sold for $20 more than listed on Ebay. This platform appears to certainly be gaining momentum and from conversations I have had with friends etc it is the place people tend to go to first.

Makes you wonder what we should be doing. I am fully aware it is not a site for a lot of items but then again who knows. I have noticed a huge reduction in the traffic on my items.

It is great, if you don't mind the lack of buyer and seller protections, as well as the heaps of tyre kickers that waste your time. And the many people who have been scammed. A huge number of complaints.

I think it depends on the item you want to sell.

The "other" alternative isn't a genuine alternative at the moment - so many draw-backs, so few positives.

If you have a specific interest item (mostly car-related), yeah, it'll probably sell.

But, you'll cop the full assortment of droogs you get on that site with "tree" in the name - idiots sending low-ball "offers", people committing to buy but never turning up, sellers selling an item but leaving the listing up for the next few months.

And, as previously mentioned, zero buyer (or seller) protection. I regularly see people complaining in various groups about having purchased an item, done a bank transfer, and not receiving the items and not being able to contact the seller.

Over and above all that is the woeful search "functionality": would-be buyers are limited to a maximum distance from their own location - bad luck if you're in Sydney and someone in Perth has an item you've been seeking for years.

I'm sure it'll get better over time, but I wouldn't turf eBay for it just yet...
