Hi - what can you do if your highest bidder has a number of non payment reviews but has 100% positive (not sure how)? Thanks in advance 🙂

Buyers can only have positives, so if this person has no negs as a seller, they can't have anything but 100%

Many sellers however are for some reason more than happy to STILL give these non-payers a positive green dot which only serves to inflate the non-payers 'good' feedback, whilst leaving a neg comment with a green dot is against eBay policy (so not only are people who choose to do this rewarding the non-paying time wasters,they also risk eBay limiting/banning THEM) rather foolish IMHO

Fingers crossed this serial non-payer here is outbid, if they are, you can add them to your blocked bidders list so they can't make another bid

You can block buyers with two or more non payment strikes (unless things have changed) How did you discover that they do not pay? Buyers can only receive positive feedbacks.

It sounds as if sellers have left false positives mentioning non payment but awarding a green dot anyway

I'm not a seller, but as I understand it bids can be cancelled by the seller if the seller is worried that the bid could be fraudulent.

I believe that you need to block the bidder before cancelling their bid though.

I'd block them as soon as you possibly can. If you don't they could mess up your auction and the other bidders might walk away and not come back if you relist it. As well as this, instead of being suspicious of another bidder, other potential buyers could end up suspicious of you.

There wasa sausage factory of shill bidders in India all with similar numbers of retractions.
I looked at auctions for a US buyer a couple of years ago & discovered what appeared to be a national sport over there...almost rivalling cricket.

I read all their reviews. Unfortunately this person was the highest bidder and surprise surprise they HAVE NOT PAID. It infuriates me that they show 100% positive but in 9 months have 6 non payments. So I am stuck with waiting like the other 5 people I contacted who also had non payments with an open case.

I really cant understand why eBay does not permanently block this person who annually opens a new account (according you replies I have had)

They won the auction and they have not paid - the gut (and my research skills) dont lie unfortunately.

Along with 6 others, I now have a case open and my item has not been paid for.

Its weird because they have left one star and said do not deal with this person but they still show 100%. I contacted 5 of these people who said she is a serial non payer and annually opens new accounts

Someone added the link to add them to the blocked list and I will do it now. One of the people I contacted who also had a non payment from this woman relisted the item and the non payer was the highest bidder for the second time and again didnt pay. eBay has to do something to stop this type of behaviour.

I agree...eBay should do something about numpty sellers who leave false positive feedback rather than using the tools eBay provides.

You of course would not do that & have your account preferences set to exclude all those with two or more unpaid items in a 12 month period.

The non payer could not have bid again (with that seller) had that seller put the time wasting fake bidder on the blocked list the first time they did it

If that seller still does not do so this time, and re-lists the item for a third time, it is 100% like they fake bidder will do the same thing again

Sellers cannot leave buyers a negative so if the sellers leave a false positive it is still a positive.

But that has no effect on what happens if the buyer is on your blocked bidders list......or your buyer requirements list is set to automatically block those with non payer strikes.

As a seller you need to open a non payer dispute and give a strike so they will be blocked by other sellers.

I'm sorry you got stuck with this person, but it's easy to be the highest bidder on anything, isn't it, if you're not necessarily intending to pay. My guess is they bid to win and decide afterwards if it is worth buying.

Ebay could definitely do more to clamp down on or limit those who who have multiple retractions or unpaid item claims against them in a short time period. 58 retractions in 6 months is probably 30 more than I would allow if I were in charge ar ebay. But I'm not.

Ebay most likely allows these bidders to continue because they might occasionally buy. Plus if they do win but don't pay and a seller does nothing, then ebay gets to keep the sales commission anyway. Hold that thought, because I suspect that there are a lot of sellers out there who do just that.

The bottom line is you have to use the tools ebay has given you to protect yourself. So do other sellers.

As engimabear said, feedback and opening an unpaid item claim against a bidder are 2 completely separate processes.

Don't bother answering that feedback, just forge ahead with the unpaid item claim. Once it closes in your favour, then I think, from memory, you have the right to ring ebay and they will remove that feedback.

Put your blockers in place. Go into your account details and block any bidders who have had a couple of strikes in 12 months.

And just think-if all the sellers before you who struck this numpty had done the same thing, and if you had your blockers in place, then this woman would not have been able to give the last 4 sellers any grief. She would have been blocked.

The other sellers can complain all they like but if they didn't open an unpaid item claim against her, then how was ebay to even know there was a problem? Sellers can't give negs & there's no real person there, reading every bit of feedback, so if a seller goes and gives a positive to a buyer, it looks like all went well, doesn't it? It looks like the transaction went through.

Use the tools ebay has given you and you can at least help to limit her behaviour. If she is having to open a new account each year then obviously some sellers are following through with unpaid item claims. If you all did, she might have to try it every month and if sellersw make it too much effrt, she might eventually not bother.
