Most find out when they have a look at their feedback for some reason, maybe to see if a reply is left, only to discover it's goneski. Then they get a bit pished. I had one removed because I won a dispute and the buyer left a revenge neg. She wasn't happy when she discovered it was gone and sent a whole heap of abusive messages.....which I ignored. She will never buy from me again.

ok, woke up to my first negative feedback.

this fellow bought a second hand toy car from me and recieved it just fine.

i know because he sent me a message with photos of the car saying it had a repaired part on it, which it did, i never said the car was new.

it was restored and sold 'as is'

so in retaliation hes given me negative feedback with the message the item was sent to the wrong address!

it was sent to the address he has registered and tracking proves it was delivered on time.

sold on the 11.5.19 delivered 20.5.19

where should i go now?

The negative only refers to the wrong address - so you should be able to appeal to ebay because you have tracking.

Speak to ebay - don't forget to refer to his emails where he acknowledges delivery.

.. this is possibly a recurring problem with ebays database and have encountered it many times now .. the situation is that if a person has changed address in the last few years and updated their address to the correct new one on the ebay system that a glitch is repeatedly and intermittently re-inserting/defaulting to the old address in place of the new one .. ebay is well aware of this and this recurring problem has caused me and many others no end of headaches over the years ..

I would be asking the buyer what address the item was sent to and if that is perhaps their old address and if it is then it would be an ebay error .. is another reason why I don't like selling on ebay and also as a buyer you need to be careful when purchasing each item to make sure that your correct address is there if you have moved house in the last few years .. the whole thing is incredibly confusing .. if you sent the item via tracked mail the onus is on the buyer .. the whole thing is a mess ..

As for a repair on an old item we all know this can lead to claims .. in my case have had claims against me for paint fade and bad feedback because buyers didn't like the music on a CD etc .. anyway as always try and get to the bottom of things without loosing your cool and if you can see there is a mismatch between your item description and what the buyer has received refunding or partially is a possible option etc etc .. by the sounds of it the buyer has not lodged a dispute which tends to indicate that wrong address things may be the problem I mentioned earlier ..

whilst these things can be time consuming and irritating I would still try and resolve the situation amicably and fairly etc etc, you did mention it is a restored item so imagine you would have shown any defects/restoration in your images .. I can't see/detect what part is retored on the (Tamiya 58064 1/12 Celica GR.B (restored)) .. that could/would be a concern especially at the price that sold for ($700) and is worth being explicity clear especially at that price

I had no idea that particular collectable market was running as hot as it is .. wow .. some people must have money to burn ..

best regards ..

You are absolutely correct with the address thing. There have been many members come here saying that it's happened. Extremely frustrating for both buyer and seller. However, David mentioned in his post that the buyer did actually receive it, because he (the buyer) sent photos. So I'm not sure that would be the case this time.

I have got some incredible bargains in recent times on ebay .. I do hope the market turns in favour of sellers somehwat in the future as a declining market is one sign of what is called stag-flation in the economy .. I shoulda hung onto my scalextric stuff .. and my comic books and my commodore 64, trs80 and a few other things .. I still have piles of old cupboard stuff to sell but is difficult to test this declining market unless really strapped for cash .. am hoping things turn in the next 10 years or am going to be kicking myself ..

"You are absolutely correct with the address thing.

Hindsight is wonderful. I too am kicking myself about not keeping different thing, which are worth a pretty penny now. I've seen some things on here sell for thousands in average condition and what I had was in a far better state. You just don't think at the time if this stuff would be worth anything in the future. Not as a kid or a teen.

One thing I have kept is all our phones. The only one I don't have is Mr Tippy's original bag phone (which can fetch a decent price). I still have his brick phone and each phone as they tried to make them smaller and smaller (which they could only go so far as people still needed to be able to push the buttons!). Then as technology advance, they have got bigger and bigger and people still want them bigger!

Apart from the brick, I have kept all the boxes and accessories. It drives Mr Tippy nuts, but the older phones are starting to gain value to collectors. If it turns out in years to come they aren't worth anything, I'll chuck them, or send them to the phone recyclers.

Another thing I have kicked myself about were all the Matchbox cars we destroyed at kids. Some are worth a substantial amount of money now, especially the original grey wheel cars. I can't get my head around that people in the 50's, 60's and 70's had the forethought to buy these cars and keep them in mint condition in the boxes. They were aimed at kids, yet so many people never gave them to the kids.

I could go on all day, but I've hijacked David's thread enough!

David, well done on getting the neg removed!

I was just about to dump a whole heap of real old computer stuff here too .. was about to drill holes through all the hard disks (Have about 20KG of those here for staters) and send them off for scrap, even some of the old CD rom drives are worth money!! and I kept a few old mobile phones too .. again I was reluctant to sell them as may contain personal data etc .. and still have the old computer keyboards too plus kept a few old CPUs and obsolete specialty computer cards etc etc but is mainly in the overseas market they are worth anything and auspost does everything possible to kill the deal there so am stuck with them really until the Australian market picks up for those type of things but am wondering if it ever will.

like I sold a 5&1/4 inch floppy drive here a few years (like 5-7 years back) for about $5 and now people overseas are getting upto $200 for them!! .. I havta say I have absolutely no use for them but obviously some people are really hunting for them .. now am rethinking doing a dump run with this lot as some may be worth a bit one day eg 40Mb hard disks and the like .. anyway not going to get too excited about it all and will just box them all up for now and keep my fingers crossed and wait a while longer for the market here to improve some ..

Like I have about 1000 VHS movies here and now am hearing the video slickers are going to be the hot item, was going to give them all away on gumtree!! same with my cassette collection .. the slickers are the thing they will apparently be collecting .. anyway everything crossed as have piles of old rubbish here .. jeez was about to throw my old mobile phones to recycling and now you say that .. if this keeps up will need to get a bigger house .. anyway glad to hear you got rid of the neg david I honestly thought you would be stuck with it ..

She will never buy from me again.

going back to my sale, if you select the 9th photo you can see where the 'repaired' front right wishbone is strenthened with a little 'liquid metal'

its not like i hid it!

i did my best to put a lot of pictures so a buyer could study the car.

the guy was just thinking he could get a further discount.

i had allready dropped the price by $100 and did free delivery for the guy.

David, I'm glad that you've been de-negged.

I wish I'd bought a mobile phone earlier than I did. My first mobile phone was a Samsung (in a design that I thought was utterly seductive at the time - all excitingly curved glossy edges). I must admit that I don't know if I've still got it.

I do however have every iPhone I've ever bought - apart from the one that swelled up like a pregnant baboon due to a burst battery. That was an exciting time... when I wasn't even sure that the information on the phone could be saved, and I had (foolishly) not backed up...

(The data was saved. I upgraded to the newest iPhone. The universe did not blow up and my contacts were not lost. Allelujah!)

I am reasonably sure that the first ever modem we had has long since gone to e-heaven (or perhaps e-hell, if it was a naughty little modem).

BUT... my father and I collected early phones; we still have some of them. The wall phone dating to the 1920s has gone to another collector, I think, but we do still have at least 10 bakelite phones from various eras.

I used to work for British Telecom back in the late '70s and ended up with a collection of the bakelite phones from the '50s in around 5 different colours and a few wooden bell-sets. I keep and eye on the prices and maybe one day I'll offload them.............

No candlestick phones though, I'm kicking myself 'cos I could have bought an original one back then for a song.

Ah hindsight, wouldn't it be wonderful to have it..
