Thanks for that information, I get it now 🙂

And that's sucky that sellers can't leave negative feedback for buyers. I really should go read all the T&C's again because there are probably more things that have changed in the last few years.

(I opened an unpaid item dispute a few days ago).

Thank you again!

I have not sold anything on ebay for a couple of years, but recently started selling again.

One buyer has not paid and is not responding to messages. I have noticed that they have several positive feedback where the feedback message is negative eg. Beware non-payer, did not respond to communication.

I wonder why sellers are giving positive instead of negative or neutral feedback?

They do it becaue it has not been possible to leave a negaitive for a buyer for about 4 years, but they are in breach of eBay policy by leaving a negative comment with a positive (the buyer could report them, have the comments removed and the seller would get a policy violation while the buyer retains the FB score).

I just thought to add - what you should do now is open an Unpaid Item case (assuming it has been longer than 4 days since the sale). In the dropdown menu next to the sold item will be 'Resolve A Problem', follow the prompts from there. Once opened, if the buyer still doesn't pay, you can close it after 4 days to receive the final value fee back (make sure at least 4 days have passed, to the minute). Once a dispute is closed without payment, neither party should be able to leave feedback.

OP - no matter how tempting - do not follow other foolish sellers and leave negative comment on positive feedback. As well as being a breach of rules, all these silly sellers have really done is increase the number of feedback stars for a shocking buyer.

I will do the right thing. The system is obviously flawed but the good buyers far outweigh the bad so I'll just suck it up and relist the items.

I will do the right thing. The system is obviously flawed but the good buyers far outweigh the bad so I'll just suck it up and relist the items.

No it's not flawed... they've improved it HEAPS compared to the "bad old days".

Raise that Non Payment Dispute, and if the buyer doesn't pay you then you should close it, get a refund on your fees and issue a Non Payment Strike.

Now, do this immediately.. go to My Ebay > Account (tab) > Site Preferences and open up teh Buyer Requirements section.

Switch everything on, and set a block of all bidders who have 2 or more Non Payment Strikes in the past 12 months. Make sure to apply these to your curent listinmgs, then SAVE.

OK... now the habitual non-payers can't buy your stuff.

Heaps better than leaving then Negative Feedback, but not being able to stop them buying from you (which is how it used to be).

Somebody who doesn't care about paying for what they buy is CERTAINLY not going to care less about copping a 16x16 pixel red dot on a computer screen. Leaving negatives for non-payers was never effective anyway.
