Click and Send Flat Rate Cartons - are they anything special?

Need some advice please - I've never used the carton service of Click and Send.

It's not very clear on the C&S page, plus I've never seen any special boxes at the Post Office.

Do I have to buy a special "ebay branded" carton, or can I use the stock of Bx1, Bx2 and Bx3 that I already have here?

And do you reckon I can turn my used boxes inside out and re-use / recycle them?

No, you can't use other boxes - but I asked about re-using the correct boxes and they are quite happy with that.

I find the boxes a godsend for books - it was such a problem before, every second book was just over 500g, but now I can send up to 3 books in a B1 box.

Coops, I would imagine the boxes would have a product number on them as the satchels do?

My daughter uses them, and has advised me to, but I have not done so yet as we are going to share buying 200 to get them at the cheapest rate and she still has a few to go before she is ready to buy more.

PS: you might not have noticed them at the post office because they are supplied flat (not made up) - it is cheaper to buy 20 at a time.

And a lot cheaper if you buy 100. about 50% cheaper.

I always buy all boxes and padded bags in 100 or more, saves a lot.

Thanks - but on the webpage that I linked to above, they say to buy a Bx1, Bx2 or Bx4 box... they don't actually mention the C&S codes (00069, 00076 and 00090)

Furthermore, ALL the images show a standard box, not anything special.

Incorrectly labeled boxes, items packed in the wrong sized box, or items packed in a non-Australia Post mailing box and lodged in a street posting box may not be processed by Australia Post and may be returned to sender.

Do these "special" boxes look the same as a standard AusPost carton? I've only got stocks of fairly old standard boxes here (both brown and white), and they don't have those C&S codes printed on them anywhere.

Just to clarify - I am not asking about using non-Australia Post boxes.

What I am asking is whether the Click and Send boxes are different from the standard Bx1, Bx2 or Bx4 box that anybody can buy at the post office. That's what I want to use... the (huge pile of) standard AP boxes that I already have here.

Sorry, yes you can use the B1 and the B2 you have, but not the B3.

They sell them at the post office, they are just ordinary boxes

$1.75; $2.35; $3.10

or cheaper by 20.

The only place the Flat Rate codes are stamped on the boxes is the last 5 numbers of the barcode. You don't even have to worry about the codes anymore because now you can select the box size from the dropdown in C&S.

And the labels are no longer "eBay branded" when printed so the boxes are suitable for use for any purpose. We use them a lot as they are good value for most items over 500g, provided you buy the boxes in bulk.

Thanks everyone for clearing it up - I was worried that they were specially "ebay branded" boxes like the C&S satchels.

Just for general info for anyone reading, the eBay branded satchels can be used for any purpose, not just eBay sales.

The only requirement to buying and using them is that you be an eBay member, but you can use them to send personal items, sales from other sites and so on - there's no restrictions stating that what's inside a satchel need be an eBay purchase. (AP have even recommended the eBay C&S satchels to people who run their own websites as an alternative.

You can even purchase a label and send the pdf doc to someone else, provided they have the right satchel to use, which can be handy for returns and other things.

The B1 box is cheaper anyway, total cost to you $8.25; 3 kg ebay satchels cost $10.55 (plus purchase price of satchel).
