When a puirchaser collected and removed heavy item from premises(corporate building) he chipped tiles taking it down the stairs. Is he responsible for repairing them.

Anyone doing the cartage is usually responsibie for damage during the process.

Good luck with enforcing it unless the purchaser is also a registered removalist or carrier.

If it was just an ordinary joe blow then you won't get nothing and your insurance has to cover it and as lyndal said if it was a courier/removalist then their insurance covers it.

It's like if someone slipped over in your premises they can sue you and you need to be covered.

My take is -

If it was listed as pick up only, buyer to do removal, and then the buyer has subsequently damaged the item, then it's the buyer's problem, not yours.

They have no recourse.

My take is that the seller and their staff watched the buyer remove the goods and that the seller's premises were damaged in the process.

If it was your item then you may be responsible for the actions of anyone removing it, as you brought them into the building, but that's just a guess on my part.
