Unfair,untrue Negative Feedback

I recently sold a book for around $3. Distinctively at the end of my ad it said postage is $6.60 Australia wide. The buyer emailed me and said I have free postage on my ad. I said no I dont. It was a local and I suggested she could pick up the item but she never rang me so she paid the postage cost. Can she be as stupid to assume the free postage was if she picked up the item. Of course I sent her my invoice and actually gave her a discount on postage. Last night I looked at my ebay and noticed she gave me NEG feedback saying I said the item was FREE postage. I want her NEG feedback removed. I have contactd ebay with no reply yet. Some people shouldnt be on ebay and Im thinking of chucking it in.

I don't think it is best you jump to a conclusion that your buyer is "stupid".

There is an intermittent glitch with the ebay mobile application that - from time to time - shows all a sellers listings as having Free Post - its done it with mine and a family members on several occasions over the past few months ~ seen it with my own eyes 😮

She might have seen that,but in the ad itself I wrote how much postage is. She was very unfair and should have contacted me first before leaving that feedback. I get upset easily and I value all the people who have bought things from me and my 100% feedback score. Ebay just wrote to me and said they have my back but I have to contact the buyer so she can remove the feedback or change it:(

your problem is you are listing with ''freight''

use the Aust Post calculator, or fixed postage and you wont have this problem.

what kind of ''freight'' did you propose to use for a recipe book?

It probably wasn't the buyer that misread 'freight" as "free" but more likely the eBay app turned "freight" into "free".

The eBay app has a mind of its own and has even decided to live on my desktop computer so it doesn't just stuff up my android phone and ipad, it can now play havoc with the last bastion of normality when dealing with eBay.

OP, totally tragic when an ijustice happens through no fault of your own!

But FREE post was either in the listing or it wasn't.

As bump said above, it that was a glitch there is every reason for Ebay to remove the neg - with an apologoy to you! And the customer, as she was misled also.

You got no business ringing the customer pleading for her to change the f/back - unles you mistakenly had Free postage in the listing which should be obvious anyway. (Too much in a hurry to go looking).

You probably should phone eBay and tell them the buyer claims she saw Free postage when in fact it said Freight. They will be able to see for themselves that you have it as Freight.

However, the Freight option is not meant to be used for small items that can be sent with Australia Post. It is for large and bulky items http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/sell/shipping-faqs.html

January absolutely no mention of free postage, only the use of the word freight and then in the description the actual cost of $6.60 for Australia wide.

The listing doesn't say free postage.

Ring up eBay and ask them to remove the negative feedback. I think they will remove it.

Don't bother, eBay won't remove the neg for you. They have guideline for removing neg fb under certain circumstances, but I'm pretty sure your situation doesn't qualify it. And that's why the eBay customer service told you to contact the buyer yourself to resolve the issue, instead of just removing it for you.

I know in some situations the neg fb can be removed instantly by eBay, such as improper languages and item was never paid. Your neg fb can only be classified as opinion from the buyer. Some buyers just like to leave neg fb, and there's nothing you can do about it merely because it's their opinions, eBay can't take action based on fairness of the issue, the buyer still has the right to leave any comments on the neg fb even though the whole world believe it's unfair.

I see you've left a follow-up for the neg, and it has explained it clearly. If other people have doubt, they can also click 'view item' to see if you've listed as free postage, and the truth will come out.

So, don't let it get to you, it's just a small red dot in your profile and it will be gone after a year!

I see you've left a follow-up for the neg, and it has explained it clearly. If other people have doubt, they can also click 'view item' to see if you've listed as free postage, and the truth will come out.

After 3 months you will not be able to view the item any more, nor will prospective bidders/buyers. I would be looking to get it removed on the basis that the buyer didn't read the whole description, and that this can be verified by viewing the description.

If you are going to include postage details in the description I recommend using a different coulour text for the postage details, or have a bold underlined heading that says Postage and Handling - postage is $6.60 to anywhere in Australia.

Why on earth would you specify freight if you were using AP and knew what the cost would be?

As more and more people use apps this problem will get worse as the ebay app is glitchy in the extreme going by the number of times people have posted here thinking postage should have been free.

Even if it wasn't the app on a small screen a buyer could easily mistake freight for free at a glance.

If you quote flat rate delivery but don't specify pick up in the delivery methods but add cash on collection to the payment methods then this problem cannot occur again.

Not sure about that one joex, I mean, sure - they can knock themselves out with any comments as long as they are factual. But one's inpression can't extend to a downright fabrications and distortion of facts - f/back like that gets removed instantly.

Even though Ebay is more liberal than anyone on the planet with allowing Impressions" to reflect f/back - they are not silly either - not to recognise the wrongdoing and it's consequences.

If this woman was under the impression there was no postage charge at all - why did she pay it in the frist place.

If you received the invoice with postage on it and you didn't expect to see it there, wouldn't you say, hang on a minute - what is this??????

And you don't proceed until that part is cleared up by the seller.

No one whose impression is that there is no postage goes and pays - and then leaves bad f/back because they paid postage!

Your neg fb can only be classified as opinion from the buyer. Joex - that is not actually how it works these days. As the buyer has left feedback which contradicts the information in the listing then eBay will remove feedback in these circumstances.

Free post has not been offered anywhere in the listing so the buyer has made a false statement. In these circumstances if the seller contacts eBay they will most likely remove the feedback.

That's not an opinion, it's a delusion or hallucination.

In any case OP, as has been pointed out by many, you really should specify a postage cost and not just 'freight'.

Maybe it became a default on your sell item form after you listed a large item previously.

Id like to thank everyone that has replied to my post. You are all fantastic people. When I was listing my item it would not let me list unless I picked freight,thats why I put freight. Apart from that I still had the postage cost at the bottom of my ad and on the invoice. She had the option of picking up item as I gave her my number but never rang,so she paid and I even gave her a discount on postage in the end as she emailed me and said my item was listed as free postage. I never expected neg feedback saying I made her pay postage. I have requested a feedback revision from the buyer and ebay,but if buyer refuses I am going to call ebay and see if they can remove that feedback. I also can get a court order to remove that feedback as it is defamation and a lie about my reputation as a seller. Thanks again all:)
