Check the listing itself and make sure the email address in there is correct.

I think you can do it by selecting relist, then going to the Paypal section. You can cancel before you commit it.

Payment pending?

I recently sold an item and the buyer says he has paid through PayPal. There is a payment pending icon/hourglass next to the item and it says payment was initiated a few days ago through PayPal. But there is nothing showing in my PayPal account, nothing at all from this buyer. I have checked my ebay account and my PayPal details are correct. There was an email sent to my linked email account saying the buyer has paid and I need to click on the link to claim the funds. I have used PayPal many times to buy and sell and have never had to claim funds before. I did click the link and it took me to PayPal login page, I logged in but still no sign of this payment. In case I have been scammed I went to PayPal and changed my login detail.
Does anyone know what is going on?

I did that, and it is correct. And an email was sent to me saying a payment has been and needs to be claimed. But there in nothing in my paypal account. As I said I clicked on the link in the email to claim the funds but it just takes me to PayPal login page. I logged in but still no money.

Also, if the PayPal address was wrong in the listing, then no email would have arrived in the linked email account. The email would have also gone to the wrong address. But, the details were correct. I have bender had to claim funds before, the payment just went into my PayPal account.

ive had a payment pending before, just assumed the buyer recently enrolled for paypal or perhaps changed their bank details with paypal, in some instances it takes a week for paypal funds to go through, anyway in about a week the payment came through and reflected as a completed payment.

But i dont think i recieved a message to claim funds. Always sign into paypal from the search engine never sign in from a link in a message in your inbox it could be a scam.

If all the transaction details are correct; e-mail address etc, then the buyers payment has probably gone through as an e-cheque as they obviously don't have a credit/debit card linked to their PayPal..

E-cheques can take 3-5 days to clear, but can sometimes take up to a week or longer

It was my first sale on my other Ebay ID. Are you selling on a new Ebay ID? have you forgot to add/link the new email address to your primary paypal account? This is what happened to me. I rang paypal and they were able to sort it out for me straight away. The payment then went through within 10 mins. Give Paypal a call.

Hi Daisy,

it does sound like an e-cheque but you should also have an email from PP advising you that it is. and when it will clear. They can take 5-7 days to come through

Have you got your account set up properly for taking PP payments? You need to have a Premier or business account set up with PP, otherwise if a person pays via credit card through PP you may not be able to accept the payment. ( they only allow a couple on an ordinary PP account)

I would probably call PP as has already been advised

What kind of PayPal account do you have? Personal, Premier or Business?

When I first started, I had a personal account, and I had to manually claim any payments that were made with a credit card, and back then there was a limit on how many credit cards I could accept before having to upgrade to a Premier account (which I ultimately did).

However, there was a record of these payments in my account with "Claim Payment" next to them. If your account is still a personal account, maybe try searching your transaction history with the transaction ID number from the payment notification and see if it turns up anything.

Taken from PayPal Forum:

Your payment is pending because you’re a relatively new or inexperienced seller on eBay. We want to be sure that your buyers are satisfied. By delaying a payment, we have time to verify that there are no problems with a transaction. We hope that this will make buyers feel safer and more likely to return to purchase again.

Typically, your payment will be released within 24 hours of your buyer leaving positive feedback, or when:
You email/ phone us with an online tracking number confirming that the item has been delivered over 3 days ago
21 days pass without a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal being filed on the payment.

Once 90 days have passed since your first eBay sale you’ll receive payments instantly in most cases. In the meantime, here are some things you can do to help get your payments quicker:
Process your orders right away
Use a postal service that provides you with online tracking information for your package
Communicate early and often with buyers and resolve disputes quickly.
