Also if you qualify for the 30 free listings each month, have a look at the end of the selling section to see how many you have left.

Hi all,

Just wondering how I can cancel an item without the listing fees being charged as I have listed the wrong item for sale and need to remove it asap.

Thank you

You will still be charged the listing fee even if you cancel the sale.

So if you have another item to sell just click on revise and change the photo and description to the new item.

you should be getting 30 free listings a months, so unless you have already listed so many items it should not be an issue.

It is not a good idea to change the listing into something else; some people enter the item number into their snipe service and do not go back to look at it again. They will be very upset if they end up with something totally different.

What is the item?

This.

There's nothing that prevents you from completely changing your listing if need be. Some people may set up a snipe for your listing, before you revise it, but unfortunately for them it's not your fault. They're welcome to come back and check the listing again and remove their snipe, costing them nothing. Don't be afraid to adjust your listing aslong as it falls within eBay's rules.

One other thing to note is eBay can take upto 24 hours to rehash your revised listing so it is searchable again. This shouldn't be a deterrent but is worth mentioning.

How can you list a wrong item for sale? Seems strange to me.

Maybe this clause in TOS will give a hint:

Car is advertised elsewhere so I have the right to remove it from eBay at any time.

And that is why exactly, I believe, it is against eBay rules to advertise elsewhere. People would be listing here, say they advertise elsewhere, then sell off eBay and not pay any fees. It is a fraud.

That was exactly what I was thinking but didnt want to say out loud. If this question had been from a buyer saying I accidently bought the wrong item how do i cancel, people would be shouting them down as fraudsters or something but if a seller does the same thing, you can hear the crickets.....

It is not difficult to list a wrong item, if you are re-listing something like a t-shirt that you think still have some left, and then realise you do not have any yellow in size 12.

It is lot more difficult to buy by accident; but then again i managed the other day and bought the wrong colour; as soon as I hit the "I commit" button I knew it was the wrong one. Fortunately the seller was very nice and kindly switched it for the one I wanted. It would have been more difficult if the colour I really wanted was from another seller. 🙂

But yes, it looks somewhat difficult to accidentally list a car.
