I sold 4 items to one buyer. After a number of messages to which there was no reply, I checked her feedback profile (which of course shows as 100% positive as there is no other way to leave feedback!) and was horrified at the very long list of feedback left for non payment of purchases. Why has eBay removed the negative feedback button? Why is this person still allowed to operate when she doesn't finalise any purchases? A pathetic time waster who I have now blocked but it would be better for all if eBay monitored these time wasters.

When people leave false positives, eBay consider it positive . Only the tick counts

Why give someone like this all green ticks?

No feedback at all is far better than rewarding them with a green tick, all that does is help this 'person'

It is also against eBay policy so if the 'buyer' reported them, the sellers leaving the false positives would be the only ones in trouble and their accounts possibly being suspended

Thank you for your reply. I did try the 'report' option but it did not let me report the buyer, only open a nonpayment dispute. This has obviously been done before with this buyer and obviously eBay have not suspended her account. There is absolutely no way I can see to leave any negative feedback - not even neutral feedback.

There's no need to report a non-payer, once you cancel the order because the buyer didn't pay after the specified time, it gets recorded & not in the buyers favour - restrictions will be placed on them.

Also it's not neccessary to leave them truthful FB, other sellers or other ebayers for that matter can't actually see which buyer you're referring to.

There once was a time, but not anymore.

That is right, you can only leave positive feedback for buyers which has been the case for many years

You certainly do not leave a buyer like that positive feedback with a neg comment

As said, all that does is reward the buyer and put your own account for violating eBay policy four times

Nobody else reading the feedback has a clue who the buyer is you are referring to, so it's not even helpful as a warning to other sellers

As said before, the seller has all the power to rid themselves of non-payers, it's very simple :-

1. Have your buyer blocks in place.

2. Open non-payment cases every time if they don't pay. The non-payer will get a strike and more than one of those in 12 months and they can't buy from sellers with their blocks in place.

3. DONT fail to do those above.

4, DON'T give the buyer positive feedback with negative comments. It's against eBay's feedback policy, and if they buyer complains YOU will get a policy violation for it.

How hard is that ?

You can eliminate this problem by making your items Buy It Now, with Immediate Payment marked as a requirement.

If you're going to keep your items as auctions, then make sure you have set up your buyer requirements correctly so that anyone who has had more than 2 (I think) non-payment issues in the past 12 months cannot buy from you. If you do have a buyer whose feedback raises red flags, then you would be better cancelling the transactions ((just make sure you use the only reason (buyers address problem) to avoid a defect on your account)) and then put them on your blocked buyers list.

Sellers haven't able to leave negatives for buyers for more than 10 years and Ebay doesn't monitor for non-payment - it's up to sellers to open a dispute for non-payment in order to recover their fees.
