Whatever the motivation or financial reason I most certainly agree that it is predominantly rubbish. At times I have sourced materials and objects with a view to using them in manufacture because the price was right. I can't think of any items that HAVEN'T gone straight to the rubbish bin.

Australians must love Chinese goods because almost everything they buy is made in China.

Many cry 'no choice'. The same people who wouldn't spend a few extra cents buying Australian made goods ( while the manufacturers still existed ).

hi, what type of goods are you thinking of ?

the biggest problem with buying from asia is the very very very long post time . some say 45days . the staff on some websites dont reply to questions correctly & websites are dishonest in what they have stated re post etc saying 7-14 working days post to australia when their staff say 10- 30 days, then 45 days.

thats the problem with dealing with asian stock & people not the quality of their products exactly.

cheers 🙂

Also the quality is not there.

Often it is thrown in the rubbish.

I have been involved in many aspects of business including dealing with Asia.

It is as though the Chinese are more focussed on the money and their country than supplying a product that works or is durable.

I've bought one or two things from Asia (can't remember if China or not) and it arrived in good time. It appeared to be the product as described, so I was happy. Good products can be bought from here or overseas. As has been said here before, if the price is very cheap, it may mean that the product is of inferior quality compared to higher prices for a similar product. That can happen here, China or anywhere.

You're absolutely right, it is deep in the 2 cultures (Japan n China).

I am from Denmark but spent time in Japan as well as being born there.

Japan actually hired 2000 engineers from Israel, I think it was in the 50's to try to solve the quality issues.

But Japanese have a very strong pride in perfection as well as understanding the importance of taking time to complete something and that is a huge difference.

And just so I add some balance, there are many products from China that will serve their purpose, so cheaply.

Have a good night.

If i bought a Chinese made item, would be from an Australian Seller, at least then problems can be solved easier.

Most items are made in China these days, but so are the carp items, safer to buy in Australia

I am chinese,an Aussie to be.living overseas for last 20 years. wish my view is in neutral.

Chinese products dominating world market. Talking about my tools business, in Bunnings,Masters, more than 90% are made in China, but either in the name of world leading brands, or Australian brands(many used be or still are australian manufacturers). Problem is not chinese products, but to whom you are dealing.

Sourcing is not a easy job. Used be vender of USA, UK leading brands for their OEM ordes for last 20 years. only recent years had contact with australian big groups buyers. accompany with them to visit my contacts of factories who supplying to US,UK,Europe. But orders did not come to me. orders went to 2nd class factories in China.

Australian are very conservative, but don't realize the world has changed. If you read the backside of packing of the world leading brands, or Australian local brands, beside of the original address of the company, you can find somewhere very small letters Made in China, although they may print Assembled in USA, Printed in USA( coutries of their origin.

Business very tricky. supplying to USA manufacturer screwdriver blade(shaft), but handle and assembled in USA. On blade there is no place to print or emboss Made in , but handle print with Made in USA. so this is 100% legal which they print Made in USA on handle, and as a customer like you, do you know this big part of product was made in China?

Things I have bought from China have always been on the presumption that it wouldn't be up to standard.

I have always bought singlets from a "famous" Aussie based company.

The where thick and warm,(ideal to wear under a shirt in cold weather) and to get the right length you had to get them at least two sizes bigger.

Now they have shifted operations to China they are half the thickness and you need to get a size that's four sizes bigger then your size to get the correct length, but they are way to big.

When I Emailed them they said that the way they where going to make them from now on.

Now they wonder why people aren't buying their products,?:|

Obviously no quality control and none of the ones in charge actually wear their singlets.

So I decided to buy some singlets from Chinese sellers to see the difference and their quality is even worse,:O

I've stopped buying them and just hope that my current ones last long enough.

I now go to Op shops to see whether I can buy decent second hand ones and have managed to buy a few,(even one that was marked as seconds but it was the right size and length),:O

I buy a bit of what I sell from China.

But I spend lot of time and money sourcing quality manufacturers and products.

Sometimes it is Months of work finding testing and ensuring the quality and workmanship is good enough.

I have a Chinese/ Australian Ex-pat agent over there as well who does a bit of work for me, checking the products and Manufacturers reputation out for me.

I have bought and been given samples that are rubbish and just go in the bin. I WILL not sell something I would not use myself.

A lot of what is made there is pretty poor or worse quality to total rubbish. But there is a bit that is very good. I often pay a bit more for the better quality product.

People should remember. If you pay Peanuts you have probably got something made by monkeys on a Friday, no matter where it comes from.

In most cases you do get what you pay for.

If you buy direct from China and it is crap, it will often cost you more than the original purchase price to return it and get a refund. (if you can ever get it at all) So basically you do your money. And wast a lot of time.

If you get it from a Australian seller.

1/ You get it much faster. Almost always. Aus Post let us all down sometime. As do some sellers.

2/ Much easier to get a refund if you are not happy.

3/ In most cases you get a better and faster response to any questions.

4/ The list goes on.

In almost all cases I will buy things I dont sell from an Australian seller just for those reasons.

I bought some supposed VERY HQ Headphones with mic from HK. They lasted under 2 Months, the mic stopped working. Not worth sending back, so did my money. About $25 from memory.

Ended up paying bit more buying from an Aussie, over 2 years on still working like a dream. Say no more.:-)

All this of of course JIMH.

As a casual buyer I have bought a few clothing items from Asia and found them to be top quality with fast postage. I think they were from Korea and China but can't remember exactly.

What others say is true though, if you'd need to return something it would be a huge hassle.

And as far as doing business with them as suppliers I have no idea.

hi,You say seems a bit of truth, but I personally feel that China's still worth buying daily necessities, is a little long transport time

I think you said it is a manifestation of internationalization of production, relatively cheap labor resources in China,Indeed most of the products are made in China, but no independent intellectual property rights, the Chinese workers can only get very low wages, China is a big country, but not a manufacturing powerhouse.
